Beautiful Views and a Peaceful Stay, but Service Needs Improvement

My first impression of Jalsa Beach was unfortunately disappointing, mainly because of the service at reception. There was very little warmth, communication, or hospitality. Staff grooming, posture, manners, and the way guests are welcomed definitely need improvement.
I understand that Jalsa Beach is a 3-star hotel, but being 3-star should never mean 3-star hospitality. A simple smile, “good morning,” or friendly welcome should be basic standards in any hotel.
The same issue was noticeable at the restaurant. Staff seemed more focused on clearing plates quickly than on making guests feel comfortable. There was no greeting when entering the restaurant, and the overall interaction felt cold. The expat staff member was actually the one who consistently greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome.
On the positive side, the hotel itself and the rooms were good for a 3-star property. The place was clean, peaceful, and not noisy, which made it a nice environment to relax. The views were also amazing, and this is definitely one of the highlights of the property. It’s a nice place for families looking to unwind and spend quality time together.
The food was good overall, although there is definitely room for improvement. With some attention to quality and variety, the dining experience could be much better.
Overall, Jalsa Beach has a lot of potential. The cleanliness, peaceful atmosphere, rooms, and beautiful views are definite positives. However, staff attitude, manners, grooming, communication, and overall hospitality need serious attention. Improving the service would make a huge difference to the guest experience.
I hope management takes this feedback constructively. The property itself has good potential, and with better-trained staff and stronger hospitality standards, it could provide a much better overall experience.

Can try, will be a good experience, but better options are also available in a similar price category

Stayed here for 7 nights in July 2026. The place is roughly 60 km from the airport, on the north-east coast of the island.
Experience:
1. Check-in: was smooth and we were given an early check-in at 11:00 am. We had to pay €3 per person per night tourism tax upfront.
2. Staff: the staff is really courteous and polite, be it the reception, caretakers, waiters, restaurant cooks. The service was quick, with a smiling face whenever a need arose.
3. Property: It is well built, with a big campus, swimming pool, beach and other facilities. The beach area is pretty small, and you would rather prefer to walk around the shallow waters, then sit at the beach honestly.
4. Rooms: Decent rooms, nothing great. The Deluxe rooms with balcony have a good view, so better take one on higher floors (2nd if possible). Furnishing in room is decent again, nothing great, but you wont miss a thing as well.
5. Nearby: This was a big con for us, since there is not even a single shop nearby at walking distance to buy basic utilities or snacking. A beach nearby is all you have, or else you have to rent a bike or cycle to go 2-4 kms to nearby market, which will have cost and time implications.
6. Food: It is decent, however, if you are fond of Indian Food, you will be disappointed. It did not fit well with our taste and appetite, and it overall became dull over our 7 nights of stay. However, apart from Buffet, the one we ordered outside our regular room rent package, like pizza or fried rice, was still far better in taste.
7. Ambience: peaceful and full of birds chirping around you, especially your food table. Apart from weekend, there was not much crowd, and hence the place felt very calm.
Overall, Mauritius is full of hotels and resorts, and definitely you can find good or better options if you explore. Personally, the place gave us a good experience overall, and I wont mind recommending it to other fellow travellers. However, do look out for other options in the same price range for better decisions.

Dear Yash Srivastava,
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your 7-night stay with us. We truly appreciate your kind words about our team, smooth check-in experience, peaceful ambience, and the service provided throughout your holiday. Your compliments will certainly be shared with our staff, who will be delighted to know they contributed positively to your stay.
We also appreciate your constructive feedback regarding the hotel's location. As our resort is situated on the peaceful north-east coast of Mauritius, we always encourage travellers to explore the surrounding area online before booking to ensure the location matches their holiday expectations. Many of our guests choose us specifically for the tranquillity and unspoiled natural setting, while others may prefer properties closer to shopping areas or busier villages.
Regarding the Indian cuisine, our chefs use authentic spices imported from India. However, we understand that recreating the exact flavours found in India is challenging, as local ingredients, climate, and regional cooking styles naturally influence the final taste. We regret that the buffet did not fully meet your personal preferences, although we are pleased you enjoyed some of the à la carte dishes.
Thank you once again for your balanced review and recommendation. We are glad you had a good overall experience with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another relaxing stay in Mauritius.
Warm regards,
The Management
