Amazing family holiday!

This was our second stay at Hotel Rosa and, once again, we absolutely LOVED it.
We had a front room with a beautiful view of the lake, while the teenagers stayed in a triple room at the back. The front rooms with balconies are undoubtedly the stars, but the triple-back rooms were perfectly clean and comfortable and ideal for children or teenagers.
What makes Hotel Rosa so special is that it feels like home almost from the moment you arrive at the reception desk. The staff are wonderful and genuinely go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The location and the terrace overlooking the lake is lovely, and the hotel has its own pontoon from which the children can jump straight into the water. As Val di Sogno is away from the main road, it feels safe for children to walk between the hotel and the beach independently, which contributed to the relaxation of the parents!
It is also exceptionally dog-friendly, which Buster our rescue enjoyed: dogs are genuinely welcome at the hotel, on the beach and on the terrace, which adds to the relaxed, homely atmosphere. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the housekeeping is second to none — thank you, Michela!! Buster also enjoyed his treats from the other housekeeping staff.
The breakfast is buffet-style with a very good choice of croissants, breads, eggs and fresh fruit. There is only one coffee machine and that can become a bit busy at peak-times, but it is not a problem.
In the evening, the terrace becomes a restaurant, where Massimo, Laura and Carlo do a fantastic job serving everything from pizzas to freshly grilled fish. We tried several restaurants in Malcesine, but it was genuinely hard to beat the quality of the food at Hotel Rosa, especially at such reasonable prices for Malcesine.
The German Stickl sailing school is extremely well organised. The children did the introductory catamaran course over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although not all of them spoke German, they were still able to follow the course without difficulty and the instructors were able to communicate well in English.
A few useful points to know:
* The underground parking is very tight, so it is worth bearing the size of your car in mind when booking. There are also a limited number of above-ground spaces.
* Dogs are not allowed in the pool area, so if you bring one, you may need to take turns at the pool, or simply head to the lake instead.
* The beach is pebbly, so bring water shoes.
* On Mondays and Fridays, the sailing school holds its dinner on the terrace. It can get very busy, with speeches and prize-giving, so those may be good evenings to explore another restaurant.
When we asked the children what they thought of their stay at Hotel Rosa, they summed it up perfectly: they loved the fact that it gave them the luxury of total freedom. They could go to the pool, swim in the lake, go sailing, eat a pizza on the terrace or simply do nothing at all. It was the same for us! It was truly relaxing. But the special mention needs to go to the staff: you did an amazing job!
WE WILL BE BACK!

Wonderful stay

The stay was truly wonderful! The room with a lake view was stunning, bright, and very clean. The bathroom and the shower were also impeccable. The provided shower gel was excellent and had a really pleasant scent. Moreover, we didn't even know we had received an upgrade to a room with a lake view - it was a beautiful surprise that made our stay even more special! Before our arrival, we also asked if lactose-free alternatives were available for breakfast, and we were very satisfied: they kindly provided us with lactose-free yogurt and milk. A truly appreciated attention towards the guests.

Beautiful family holiday

We were there as a family of five and were spread over two rooms. One room with lake view, one to the back. Both rooms were small but functional. The lake view is fantastic, but the rooms facing the lake are getting very warm - thankfully there is AirCondition. The room to the rear was much cooler. The hotel has come of age, but you can clearly see that the renovation is done with pragmatism. One of our rooms had a new bathroom (and not the one with lake view). You can tell that someone here has thought about making the most of the small space with meaningful storage options. I assume that the necessary renovation work will proceed piece by piece over the next few years.
Also otherwise the hotel is rather functionally equipped, but completely sufficient. You're always outside anyway. There is a pretty pool and it is only three steps across a barely traveled residential road to the lake. Semi-reasonable children can move independently in the hotel and the surrounding area.
I would like to emphasize two things:
1. Cleanliness in the hotel is top. Even if much is not particularly modern, everything is clean and well maintained.
2. The kindness of the hotel staff. Due to the narrow hallway you constantly trip over each other, but no one will let it spoil your mood. Reception, restaurant, cleaning staff - all were friendly and very helpful. A big thank you especially to the room cleaning.
The atmosphere in the house is relaxed and nice. They are mostly German guests who have taken courses in the neighboring surf school. So did my sons and my husband. The courses are well organized and the location of the hotel is perfect for such a holiday. I could watch the children from the balcony on the water. Malcesine center can be easily reached on foot via the seafront, about 30 minutes at a leisurely pace.
The food at the hotel is good, but here is a small criticism - the size of the portions varies considerably from one day to another and under some circumstances you don't get full (there only helps - pizza, pizza, pizza for the teenagers). Breakfast is also good, there is fresh fruit daily and the selection is perfectly fine.
Those who want to spend a relaxing family holiday are in good hands here. We would definitely come back.
