Kranti yoga school Patnem - daily drop in classes

Kranti has excellent drop in classes 3 times a day. I went most mornings 8am - 9.30 and they were all really good. The instructors are excellent and the setting is beautiful, on a raised deck overlooking Patnem beach amongst the trees. They provide all the mats and props you may need. Perfect way to start the day.
Highly recommend if you are beginner or intermediate. There’s Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, yin
8am is one of the first 3, yin later on. It’s good to have different instructors, you learn quicker and pick up different styles and tips.
Lovely vibe there, school is on at the same time. It has nice bungalows and a pool too. If I was going to train I would definitely consider this place.

Misleading and no longer

Kranti yoga is not the place as pictured. It has moved to a new location which is not what is in the pictures. I travelled from Australia solo and was extremely let down to find what I’d booked at a premium price was no longer. Thankfully I was provided a full refund however i felt very mislead. Since being in Patnem for a week I’ve met several others who have turned up and shared the same sentiment.

Not a safe space

It has taken me weeks to find the courage to post this review. But, I have finally done so because it has haunted me knowing that there are other unsuspecting travellers that may be subjected to a similar experience.
I arrived at Kranti Yoga in December 2023 for a yoga holiday, where I was harassed by two men in separate incidents. The first man is part of the cleaning and kitchen staff and the second man is a relative of the owner.
Both times I was in a public space.
Both times I said no.
Both times I expressed disinterest with words and actions.
Both times I had to escape before a serious violation could occur.
I reported the incidents to multiple staff members. I was scared and anxious. I became furious and confused because it seemed to be the norm at the school. In order to protect myself, I left the school after the second incident.
I requested a refund for the days that I did not stay at Kranti Yoga. After 2 weeks and much effort – I was refunded. I was offered a free 7-day holiday which I declined. I was told that it could be transferred to a family member or friend which I declined. It was not the resolution I sought, nor would I ever visit the school again or subject others to it. These men should be held accountable and It should be made clear that harassment is not tolerated at the school.
Kranti yoga is not a safe space nor is there adequate support from the school. The replies to negative reviews seem sincere and compassionate but I can report otherwise.
My intention is to whistle blow about the predatory Kranti Yoga culture and to alert students/ tourists – because no one should feel scared or unsafe at a yoga school.

Thank kranti yoga for this experience in my life

I stayed for a 1 month retreat at kranti in December. The yoga teacher was excellent and there was lots of help with adjustments and perfecting poses. There were 2 classes a day but Retreat students could join students on the longer courses which was a real bonus.
The Philosophy, Anatomy and Alignment Classes were also excellent and helped create a deeper understanding.
Sunday was a free day with a trip out and an optional yoga class.
Food was traditional home cooked, vegetarian - staff were very kind and helpful.
The location is beach side very beautiful , the price of progress. It is generally quiet but there is little shop close by that sells coffee, juices, health foods etc. The main centre and sightseeing is in market area , about 10 mins away by walk , which is much more busy. There is time to visit if you just do the 4 classes, but not if you do the additional ones.
Tip: if you fly into goa get the local taxi not from airport!
I felt my body change over the week and it really deepened my practice.

Try it

I looked at having a go at yoga last year when we came to Patnem but didn't have the courage to go in, this year I called in and the lady receceptionist was so welcoming that I decided to have a go. I went to the 11.30 am class this morning and was made to feel so welcome, mats etc were provided and our instructor was called Chris, the hour and a half went by so quickly, thanks Chris for all your help today, I would recommend as Chris was a very good instructor and helped me out when I wasn't sure, thanks again
