Hotel La Verticale is located in the centre of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, 200 metres from the train station. It has a bar and a summer terrace with mountain views. All of the rooms are en-suite with a shower and hairdryers.

The staff was over and above and beyond! We caught Danielle’s name - all were helpful! The upgrade room was awesome - we loved our front balcony! Thank you! We’ll spread your great place to others!

Severe bed bug infestation
We had a very unfortunate experience at this hotel in August 2025. During our stay, we discovered a severe bed bug infestation in our room. We have photo and video evidence of this, which we will upload with this review.
When we reported the issue, the hotel suggested that the bed bugs could have come with us in our luggage or from other resent guests, even though we found both adult bed bugs and nymphs visibly crawling in cracks in the walls. This clearly indicates a long-standing infestation that could not possibly have originated from us. After looking through other reviews, we also noticed that previous guests have reported similar experiences and received the same dismissive response.
While the hotel arranged alternative accommodation for our final night after our request, the infestation forced us to cancel onward travel plans, book extra nights at another hotel, and pay for professional decontamination of our belongings to prevent further spread.
The hotel initially offered us compensation of 300 €, but later refused to honor this, referring us instead to Booking.com. Booking.com however provided a refund from half the total cost for the La Verticale stay.
This was an extremely stressful experience. Bed bugs should never be present in a hotel room, and the way the hotel handled the situation left us very disappointed. Guests deserve transparency and future travelers should be aware that this appears to be a recurring problem at this property.

We are sorry to read your comments and feel it is important to clarify the situation so that future guests have an accurate understanding of what occurred.
We remember your stay well, including the unfortunate incident involving suspected bed bugs in your room. After a few days, you informed us late at night, after reception had closed. Despite this, we responded immediately and took action without delay. As our hotel—and most of Chamonix—was fully booked, we made every effort to find you alternative accommodation and succeeded in securing a room in another hotel at a higher rate, which we covered. This reflects our commitment to the safety and comfort of our guests.
The following morning, we followed all standard procedures required in such situations. A specialized pest control company was called in immediately to inspect and treat the room thoroughly.
We would like to clearly emphasize that the presence of bed bugs is not a sign of a dirty or poorly maintained hotel. Bed bugs can be transported unknowingly and may appear in any type of accommodation, including high-end and luxury hotels. This was a known issue across France during the summer of 2025, affecting many public and private spaces.
In this situation, we acted exactly as we are expected to: we responded immediately, relocated you at our expense, arranged professional treatment, and offered a refund. As it is impossible to determine the origin of such an issue, we handled the matter responsibly and without placing blame.
We fully understand the inconvenience and discomfort this caused and sincerely regret the impact on your stay. However, we would like to reassure future guests that this incident does not reflect the cleanliness standards of our hotel, and that all appropriate measures were taken promptly and professionally. We have not had any similar reports since.

Great staff that helped us find hiking trails and get booked for the main lift. Extremely polite and they offer upgrades when possible. Moved us to a beautiful Mountain View room with a beautiful patio.
Would highly recommend for a family or non family. Great price as well for budget friendly folks.

It's Chamonix, so I suppose a very small room and a very small bed is to be expected. I do wish they would at least put a wood or upholstried panel up on the head of the bunk bed so when you try to sit up in bed to read you don't hit your head on the 2x4 that sticks out where your head naturally goes. They do have a lamp in the bed for reading, so I assume they would assume that you'd sit up in bed.
The staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were clean. My room had a wonderful veiw of Mont Blanc.
It was very difficult to find the hotel. I walked in a several block circle several times before finally finding it by asking someone at a cheese shop, and even then, I did another smaller loop before I found it. Note ... it's across from a nice cheese shop on the main shopping street and kind of behind the U stroe.
The staff were extremely helpful. The rooms were clean. My room had a wonderful veiw of Mont Blanc.
