The kindest hosts and a lovely B&B

We stayed at Casa Pando during the Covid-19 outbreak in March 2020. Mariela and Jose were the best hosts! As most of the town was in lock down and the restaurants and cafes were mostly closed they were so generous in preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner for us during our stay. They shared their food and wine with us and we really enjoyed sharing meal times with them. They both speak excellent English so our lack of Spanish was not an issue. Although it was disappointing not to have been able to see Santa Cruz it was brilliant to spend time with Mariela and Jose. They even text us a few days later to see if we got home ok. We are very grateful for their kindness and generosity.
The property itself is also great. The gardens are beautiful and there is a feeling of being in a calm oasis.
I hope we get the chance to go back to Santa Cruz in the future. If we do, we will not stay anywhere else!

Good option for budget travelers

Bed and breakfast with pool and beautiful garden. I don’t think it is walking distance to the central plaza, but close to the Laura Hartwig winery and Vina Bello restaurant. Beside a school and busy road so some noise in the room. Breakfast was excellent. They rent bikes. Room was basic but clean and beds comfortable. Could use some upkeep (tried to open a drawer and the pull came off in my hand; tried to blowdry my hair with the ancient machine attached to the wall and the handset pulled off). No heat which seems to be normal here so cold in the room in the morning.

Great backyard and breakfast

The backyard is great, full of beautifull trees and a couple of pergolas. The swimming pool is quite good too. Breakfast is fantastic!. Location is not bad as well and the size of the rooms are good too. The only issues are regarding the bed and the pillow; pillow are too thick so the neck is very stiff after one night of sleep and the bed has some sort of material underneath the sheet tha made a horrible plastic noise everytime you move.

Amazing stay!

Casa Pando is the perfect place to base your stay in the Colchagua region. The garden and pool are lovely. Rooms are small but comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, homemade and plentiful with juice freshly made from their home grown peaches. Best of all was the owner María José and his wife- they were a tremendous resource and provided great recommendations for wine tastings, restaurants and other not to miss sights, as well as assistance in booking anything you might want to do in the region. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here when we return to Colchagua!

Wonderful retreat in the heart of Chile’s wine country, with fabulous hosts to boot!

Casa Pando and our hosts, Mariela and Jose Maria, provided a perfect stay in Santa Cruz. Located in the outskirts of Santa Cruz but just a short 1 km walk from the center of town, Casa Pando offers a handful of comfortable, airconditioned rooms situated by a pool, a garden with multiple fruit trees, and a vegetable garden. A deliciously splendid breakfast which features fruit from the orchard is offered under the shade of a “parrón,” grape vines which overgrow on a trellis-like structure.
The most striking feature of our stay was the gracious hospitality of our hosts, Mariela and Jose Maria. They were extremely warm and friendly, offered expert advice on places to visit, and booked reservations for a restaurant and a winery tour. In the evening, for those guests that wanted to partake, we sat under the parrón and shared a glass of wine and friendly conversation with Mariela and Jose Maria.
A perfect weekend, one we will repeat on a future trip to Chile.
