Fabulous hotel and location

This place is fantastic, the food, the location and the lovely staff clearly take pride in the place. Its on the quieter end of sunny beach with direct beach access, room was serviced daily, and had a sea view. Would definately recommend

Fab hotel and food

Went for a week's fly and flop holiday. Weather was amazing, not too hot. Hotel was tucked away at the end of Sunny Beach strip so its a bit quieter than the rest of it.
There is a little noddy train that tales you from one end to the other for approx 6 Lev (will be euros from Jan 26) along the promenade. Alternatively it is a lovely strill or for those who need help there is the Neesebar Mobility services where you can hire a mobility scooter for approx £10 per day. Beware though that Bulgaria does not really cater for disabled people on mobility scooters with the roads and pavements etc.
Back to the hotel, Helena Sands is the beach side hotel (half board) with Helena Park behind it (all inclusive). The hotel is clean and tidy and well looked after. The rooms were of a generous size with free safe. Hairdryer a bit pants and no iron in the room. Bathroom was lovely and clean. No complaints. Loud music a couple of nights during the week, from neighbouring hotel, but nothing that ear plugs wouldn't solve.
Food - I am the fussiest person on earth when it comes to holiday food and believe me this was the BEST food I've ever had on holiday. The choicest cuts of meat. You could virtually have a roast dinner every night if you wanted, loads of different choices every evening. You would struggle to go hungry here. Breakfast was also superb. The only downside was that all drinks were very expensive, even the water. To get round this me and my sister took our own drinks down to dinner with us every evening . There is a local Carrefour a few hundred yards away so we went there to stock up on soft drinks and the alcohol was bought on the way out at the airport.
There was no entertainment in this hotel on an evening and for us there could've been some background music from speakers but there wasn't and it resulted in a very drab atmosphere. If you wanted entertainment you could always go across to the All Inclusive side - just remember to take your own drinks.
The pool was absolutely freezing but there is also am indoor heated pool if you prefer that.
Beware of the woman at the Spa - totally put me off having a massage by the 'hard sell' She was relentless.
Overall, a fabulous holiday, great food, friendly staff and some great local bars within walking distance. Average age of clientele - 60 yrs + (could just have been due to the kids being back at school)

A great place to chill!

We have just returned from a week at Helena Sands. It is a lovely hotel in a perfect location if you just want to chill! The main part of Sunny Beach is a good half hour's walk away, or 6 lev on the road train. The Old Town of Nessebar is a 3 lev bus ride away and well worth a visit. Back to the hotel - it is very grand, with lovely grounds. We weren't over keen on our original room which looked out over the car park and the next door hotel, but were able to negotiate an upgrade to a lovely room with a pool/sea view for what we thought was a reasonable price. We then upgraded to half board having found the restaurant options locally quite limited - we'd had a look at the food in the hotel restaurant first!! By and large the food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent with plenty of variety - the only disappointment was that the fish was quite dry. Special mention must go to the hotel manager Ilia, who was very patient with all our questions and the various changes to our booking, and very accommodating! Also to our waiter, Sapar, who looked after us very well at both breakfast and dinner and quickly got to know our preferences. Many thanks to both of them for enhancing our stay.

Continuous party music

Nice rooms generously equipped with everything you will probably need. Downside for me was the perpetual party music. We initially had a room on the south side of the hotel facing a neighbouring hotel which had thumping bass and screaming guests until midnight. After 2 nights paid another 200euro to upgrade to an identical room on the east side overlooking the beach thinking the sound of the waves throughout the night would be nice. Unfortunately completely blotted out by the hotels own beach bar which competed with the waves by playing its own brand of R&B. Considering at this time of the year 90% of the hotel guests are pensioners and there were only 3 customers in the beach bar, I’m fairly sure the music was being played by the bartenders for their own amusement. Shame. Nice hotel, great facilities but don’t see ourselves coming back here.

Dear raymondg51,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated the comfort and amenities of our rooms.
We would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few points mentioned in your review:
Your original reservation was for a standard room without a sea view, which is located on the south side of the hotel facing the neighboring property. While we understand that noise from that direction may have caused some inconvenience, please note that this neighboring hotel operates independently, and we have no control over their entertainment schedule. That said, their animation program generally complies with local regulations regarding noise and quiet hours.
Upon your request, our team offered an upgrade to a sea-view room, and you were informed in advance of the additional charge, which was 200 BGN (approximately 98 EUR), not 200 EUR as stated. The upgrade was provided for the remainder of your stay.
Regarding the music from our beach bar, we want to assure you that it is played in full accordance with local noise regulations and within the allowed timeframes. The goal is always to create a pleasant seaside atmosphere for all our guests, not for staff entertainment. We continuously monitor volume levels to ensure they do not interfere with guests’ comfort.
As for your comment about the majority of our guests being pensioners — our hotel welcomes visitors of all ages and backgrounds. We strive to maintain a balanced environment that caters to both guests seeking relaxation and those looking for a livelier holiday experience.
We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations, but we do appreciate your comments, which help us improve. We hope you will consider giving us another opportunity in the future.
Warm regards,
