Relax at CG

Have found Port Douglas a bit better speed than Cairns and having a unit close to Main Street, though out of the noise. Complex is immaculate and from front desk staff to the facilities in the unit were excellent. Sitting on terrace for breakfast to cooking a roast at home when over restaurant food was relax plus. Easy 10 minute walk to main bay so close enough to park car and forget it. Tip: for the more adventurous, follow the path from the town up to headland - lovely walk.

Average experience with a high price

We paid about $6700 AUD for 5 nights in a 3 bedroom (309).
PROS: Great location steps away from the beach and very close to all the restaurants and the wharf in Port Douglas. Other than a day when there was very loud repair work going on in the next apartment that kept us from enjoying the rooftop pool area, I didn’t find noise to be an issue.
CONS: Stains on fitted sheet in the master bedroom. I was going to ask for a replacement sheet, but we were never around the same time as the office staff until later in the week, so I ended up just putting a towel down on top of it and using that the entire week. Some towels had yellow stains on them as well. The couch also had stains on it.
Gross black pieces of something (mold?) came loose from the shower floors (there were two) every time we took a shower. Showers need an update.
I didn’t take photos but the pool and spa also had yellow/brown stains and probably need to be refurbished.
Dryer did not dry well, It got super hot, but seemed to struggle to take the dampness out of the clothes. We had to dry them on low temperature for multiple cycles to get them to dry.
Dust on the vents on the wall and underneath cabinets.
A/C didn’t work super well and never took the humidity out of the rooms. One of the master bathroom sinks has cracks in it.
We figured out while we were staying there that this particular apartment is for sale currently which might explain why it’s been neglected a bit. We felt that for what we paid the unit should have been better kept and did not feel the value was there. Hopefully whoever buys the unit will update it.

Middling experience overall

Has to be the noisiest five star experience I’ve ever had. Neighbors upstairs seem to spend the whole morning traipsing up and down, thumping away, or it might be the cleaners, who knows. So poor apartment noise insulation, I’m guessing. Traffic noise, construction noise on Macrossen Street, not great. Not the peaceful tranquil experience I was hoping. Another point, checkin at 3pm, but check out at 10am? seems a bit rich. On the cleaning front, shower needs a good scrub, with black mould . A good steam clean would do the trick. Outdoor seating needs their cushions in place-this seems to have been overlooked. Complex Pool very small, and at the rear of the building. A little congested. We have the terrace apartment which is good for two adults. Apartment overall is very comfortable, although no full shower recess in the main bathroom ensuite, but adequate ( kind of). Bath looks nice. Laundry good, but malfunctioning Miele washing machine. While it is operational, there is an issue with the drum, this needs attention and repair. Literally thumps through the pre spin and could do further damage to the machine. Kitchen well appointed with low to mid range price point crockery and cutlery. Fridge, oven, cook top all Miele. Comfortable leather sofa ( good quality) and coffee table. So adequate seating. Good space for eat in kitchen. Front room comfortable. Back/ rear room comfortable. Beds good, but not premium. Standard linen, comfortable pillows. Lamps use those white light bulbs rather than the soft white light. These should be swapped out for a better softer affect. As in most of Port and Australian tourism spots, minimum service, no help with bags, the usual thing. Simply no idea about when the word hospitality means. But that’s to be expected.

Great location and facilities

Stayed in a beautiful two bedroom terrace apartment which looks over Macrossan st and has its own pool and spa on the terrace. The apartment was very spacious, immaculately clean and had everything you would possibly need. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom ammenities were MOR brand which were very luxurious. There was a beautiful fruit and cheese platter in our fridge on arrival which was a lovely gift.
All restaurants and beach a quick walk away. No need for a car!!

5 Star Everything!

Our end appt (104) was just amazing! Huge amount of space…. 2 large bathrooms, walk in wardrobe.. large kitchen.. laundry room…. Spacious bedroom And to top it all off, various large terraces with big bbq area, sunbathing areas, our own pool and hot tub.
The location was amazing too.. right on Macrossan Street with immediate access to a load of great bars, restaurants and shops. And a 2 minute walk to the beach.
The staff at the appts were great too.. nothing was too much bother for them and everyone super friendly. If we didn’t live so far away in Scotland, we’d be back here every year!

Excellent location
