A wonderful place to stay

Our home away from home for 5 nights. There was plenty of room the unpack and set ourselves up for our stay. We stayed in the Blue Wren split level unit. All the other reviews here are exactly what I was going the write. Plenty of wildlife directly out from the unit to watch.

Awesome stay!

Everything about this lodge was awesome... From the fireplace to the spa bath this place will leave you wishing you could stay forever.. we had an abundance of animals visit the back door every morning from roos with Joey's, cockatoos, king parrots and smaller bird's arriving for a feed.. the view from the balcony is great and if you leave the blinds up the view when you wake is gorgeous 2. We couldn't work out the telescope but I'm sure someone will get some use out of it.. only a 3 minute walk to the heart of the town.. can't wait to come back... ♥️

A truly magical place!

This two story house is set in the countryside where cockatoos land on the balconies and where wallabies tap on the back door. Kingfisher lodge is a large property with rather dated decor but with a great lounge and kitchen on the ground floor. The kitchen is really well appointed with absolutely everything that you could ever want. There's a barbecue in the garden and a really big television with Netflix in the living room.
Upstairs is a massive bedroom / bathroom and one thing worth mentioning is that although there are blackout blinds throughout the house, the skylights don't have any blinds at all but as they don't face East we found it was fine in the mornings (even though we're both very light-sensitive sleepers).
It's a very easy 78 minute walk into the middle of Halls Gap where there are several restaurants for dinner. Highly recommended.

Hidden Gem

We stayed in the Blue Wren Lodge at Halls Gap recently and our only complaint was that we wished we had booked for longer. There are two lodges on this property, Kingfisher and Blue Wren. The latter suited us better as there were very few stairs to negotiate (and none into the bedroom/bathroom and laundry) which made it ideal for my dodgy knees. First of all the place was spacious, in a beautiful bushland setting and sparkling clean. Access was by a lock box (the owner sent the code by text) and after entrance we found our key on the table and replaced the access key in the box. Full kitchen facilities, with generous supplies. Wifi on premises (at a very decent speed) and TV not only had free to air channels but Netflix, Foxtel and Youtube. Lots of birdlife (including the representative blue wren) and large kangaroos using the back garden as a resting place. This lodge is set up for couples (not families) with a large bathroom adjacent to the bedroom complete with two person spa, and walk in shower. There is a decent restaurant just down the drive and over the road, and you're close to the centre of Halls Gap - I doubt this accommodation could be bettered - unless it's the adjacent Kingfisher Lodge - and I didn't view that. Thoroughly recommend.

Hidden gem

We stayed in the Blue Wren lodge (there are two, the other Is the King Fisher). It is marketed specifically for couples, so wouldn’t suit a family, but it is truly a gem. Everything you could desire is found within, including fully operational kitchen (with generous staples supplied). There is also a washer and dryer, very handy when you’re driving around living out of suitcases. The bathroom is luxurious, with large spa bath and separate commodious shower. You look out onto a small garden and surrounding bush which several large kangaroos call home. Surrounded by bird life, including numerous wrens for which it is named. Free wifi, with very decent speeds, Netflix and YouTube. The space is very generous, and what suited me was the fact that there were only three stairs to negotiate down to the living space, given I have problems with stairs. We loved it, not very far (less than 1km) out of Halls Gap. Undercover parking for the car, right next to the back door. You communicate with the owner by text, and she will give directions on how to access the accommodation. Very happy to recommend, our only regret was we had only booked two nights.
