Zadar Airport is a public and military airport located in the city of Zadar in Croatia. It is found about eight kilometres from the city centre, in the Zemunik Donji area of the country. It previously served as a base for the Lufthansa flight school 'InterCockpit', and still serves as a Croatian Air Force base.

Zadar Airport became a Ryanair base with a stationed Boeing 737-800 that serves some 16 European destinations in the countries of Germany, Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. It is also served by various airlines from all over Europe, boosting its reputation as a main regional airport in the country. A quirky feature of the airport is its taxiway, which crosses a public road. The said road was closed on April 7, 2010 though, due to the terms set with the European Union during the Croatian accession negotiations. The said runway is still fully functional as of this day.

Zadar is a beautiful city located on the Adriatic Sea coast of the country of Croatia. It is found on the northern Dalmatian Region, and is considered as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Zadar. Rich in history, with picturesque views, and lovely Roman architecture, Zadar is a great place to visit.

The Forum – Founded by the first Roman Emperor August, the Roman Forum in Zadar is the largest forum on the eastern side of the Adriatic. A forum, or a public square, was primarily reserved in the olden days as a marketplace, along with buildings used for shops and the stoas used for open stalls. Sometimes, it is also used as a place for gatherings, where diverse activities including debates, rendezvous, meetings, and political discussions are held. The features of the forum in Croatia and its completion were described by the two stone inscriptions dating from the third century, attributing it to the Romans and particularly, the Roman Emperor Augustus.

Church of St. Donatus – An iconic round building built in the ninth century in pre-Romanesque style, the Church of St. Donatus is the most important preserved structure of its period in Dalmatia despite being erroneously identified as a temple of Juno. The massive dome of the rotunda is surrounded by a vaulted gallery in two stories, which also extends around the three apses to the east. Some of the best metalwork in Dalmatia is kept in the church's treasury.

Sun Salutation – A 'wacky' creation of Nikola Basic, the San Salutation is a 22-metre circle set into pavement is filled with 300 multi-layered glass plates that collect the sun's energy during the day. Together with the wave energy that makes the Sea Organ's sound, the Sun Salutation produces a trippy light show from sunset to sunrise that's meant to simulate the solar system.

Pet Bunara – Croatia also boasts of great food, and this small and intimate restaurant is one of the places to be near the circuit of churches in the area of Zadar. Pet Bunara's atmospheric restaurant serves some of the best Dalmatian soups and stews, home-made pasta and local favourites such as octopus and turkey, and some desserts.

How to get around within Zadar

The main mode of public transport in the area is buses. From the airport, buses are timed around all Croatia Airlines flights, departing from outside the main terminal, from the old town, and the bus station at least one hour prior to the schedule. Bus services cease just after midnight during the summers, so if planning on staying out late, travellers might walk or taxi back to their hotels/homes. Taxis are pretty much the only available mode of transport aside from buses and private transport, so if not keen on taking buses they will come in handy and is available almost anywhere. Negotiate/enquire about the base fares and prices first before boarding.
