The Metro Rail is a single-lain light rail system extending along Main Street southward to Erie Canal Harbor in downtown Buffalo. There is also the bus network that focuses on three main nodes: downtown Buffalo, University Station, and Portage Road Transit Center in Niagara Falls. Taxis are also common in Buffalo, although they can only be hailed at the airport, the Metropolitan Transportation Center, the Chippewa Street entertainment district, downtown hotels, the Elmwood strip, and near the colleges and universities in the city. Moreover, there are also many scenic bike routes in Buffalo, which can be pleasant during the summer.

If going to the suburbs, it is better to just rent a car since public transportation to these areas can be severely infrequent, especially during the weekends. Buffalo is served by the Kensington Expressway, the Scajaquada Expressway, and the Buffalo Skyway.
