General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport, more commonly known as Boston Logan International Airport, is located in the East Boston neighbourhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It is the largest airport in New England, with four terminals connected by shuttle buses.

The airport is extremely well connected to the city and neighbouring suburbs by various modes of transport including taxis, subway lines, rapid bus transit services, regional bus services, limousines, and an airport express bus service. Taxis and limousines in Boston are generally more expensive than in many other cities and there have been cases of taxi drivers taking longer routes on purpose to claim higher fares. Unless absolutely necessary, it is advisable to utilize more reliable and affordable alternatives like the subway or the airport express bus service that will get you into the city quite quickly.

As the public transport network in Boston is very extensive and relatively inexpensive, the same suggestion applies when you’re in the city - don’t take a taxi unless you really have to. The Boston Metro area is solely served by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority ("MBTA", or "the T" for short). “The T” as most locals call it, comprises of four colour-coded lines that will bring you to almost anywhere in the city. Boston’s bus services cover areas that the subway doesn’t. There are two kinds of buses: regular and express. To get around faster, opt for the express buses but do note that the fares on these buses are slightly more expensive than the regular buses. If you are spending a couple of days in the city and intending to get around on public transport, it is recommended that you get yourself an unlimited-ride subway and bus pass. As Boston’s downtown core is relatively compact, getting around on foot is also entirely plausible.

Given Boston’s plethora of museums, flourishing art and culture scene, as well as the city’s rich history, it is no wonder that the area is consistently ranked as a top tourist destination in the United States. Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts welcomes millions of visitors each year. Containing over 450,000 works of art, it is one of the largest and most comprehensive art museums in the country. The museum’s impressive collection includes Egyptian artefacts, 18^th and 19^th century American art, Roman art, and Imperial Chinese art. It also prides itself as the home of the largest collection of Monet paintings outside of Paris and the largest collection of Japanese art outside of Japan. The museum is a great place to spend a couple of hours. In fact, the expansive museum has so much to offer that some visitors return the next day to complete the experience.

Next, head to North End, the city’s oldest residential community noted for its Italian American population. Travel back in time as you walk on the cobblestone streets that will lead to you several historic sites such as the Old North Church and the Paul Revere House. The district is also famous for its cafes, Italian bakeries, restaurants, and small grocery shops selling a good selection of fruit, vegetables, wine, cheese and olive oil. North End, affectionately called “Little Italy” is where you will find the region’s best Italian food. While you’re there, don’t forget to pick up a cannoli, a popular Italian pastry dessert that makes a great snack on the go.
