Great holiday

Clean structure, great location in the center with shops and subways just steps away. I recommend the Callao metro two minutes from the property. Structure recently renovated therefore everything great. Excellent and helpful staff.

YES, THE CRITICISMS ARE RIGHT, BUT ITS FRIENDLY, IDIOSYNCRATIC AND GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE I PAID.

Its got nice staff, 24 hour access, great location (the streets behind the hotel are really fun), and good value for money- it's not great but it's cheap which is fine. Its in a great bulding- I love the stairs. It also has a nice common room to hand out in.
The reviews are all correct- it's a bit smelly, grubby old broke furniture and plastic plants, tatty shower curtains. Beds not that comfortable, erratic heating system, no bedside lamp in my room. My room (a single) faced onto the internal courtyard which was so deep there was no direct sunlight at all. If you are someone who wants pristine modern hotels you will hate this, so go upmarket or go to a chain. Personally I liked the old style oddness and was perfectly happy for the price I paid for somewhere I could sleep at a good price and great location. I predict that your feelings may be entirely related to the price you pay.

Great staff, shabby rooms

Excellent location and outstanding staff – Eugenia, Manuel, Rondulfo. Although the hostal faces a major street, the interior rooms are absolutely quiet. However, the place is shabby. Beware of charges. Booking.com confirmed a price of €140, but I was actually charged $165, a few dollars more than the even the most generous exchange rate.

Good Budget Hotel

I had booked a single room for 3nights and having never stayed in a "hostal" before I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised as my room had a small double bed and an en-suite bathroom. Yes it is rather dated and yes you can hear everything through the very thin walls but for the price and location it was fantastic! I was out exploring the city so didn't spend much time in the room but as long as you don't expect any luxuries then this place fits the bill for a cheap city break.
