A return visit that was much better.
Great location, very close to Plaza Nueva, and the base of the steps leading up to Albaicin. I had an inner facing room this time, and so noise levels from outside were minimal. However, reception closes at 10pm and, with no night porter, guests were partying in their rooms until 3am. It's very inconsiderate, but little that can be done about it. There is no lift so don't take heavy luggage. It is a great place for a couple of nights in the midst of it all- lots of restaurants and tapas bars on the doorstep. Staff were lovely.

Horrible experience
We stayed two adults and two children. We arrived late due to the accident that occurred this past weekend due to flooding, after having previously notified us of the situation, the person who assisted us was very rude and yelled and bad manners over the phone. When we arrived at 12 at night, they charged us a €10 surcharge for arriving late and a €20 deposit for the key. I paid but said I would give a bad review, so the owner called me on the phone to yell at me and accuse me of threatening his employee for saying I was going to give a bad review. The room was very old and bad looking, the bathrooms and walls with wear marks. The only positive thing to say the least is the location, although being central, there was a lot of noise until late at night. Without a doubt I would not recommend it even if it were free, the terrible service of people who should not serve the public if they do not know how to treat a family with education and some humanity after having spent more than 5 hours in a detention due to the accident in which a child died last weekend. Please don't let anyone go to this place.

Difficult review as many positive aspects but a few issues too.
Fantastic location at 'base camp' Albaizin. You are on edge of the Moroccan sector here and 5 mins from the Gran Via. So, very central. I have wanted to stay in this area of the City for ages and decided to do it on a budget trip this time ! So price was very reasonable for location. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was spotlessly clean with small ensuite. Luggage storage available if you arrive early or depart late.
Located in a lovely old apartment building, they have converted a number of the units to visitor accommodation, about half woth ensuite shower rooms. I felt that the conversion has been done on the cheap! I was located at the front of the building on a cobble street and whilst the original single glazed window was supplimented by another double glazed screen, noise was a real.problem. there was also no openable windows or an extractor in the shower room. Unfortunately there were major repairs works going on to the road during my stay and pneumatic drills from 8am to 6pm! Noise from the local bars after 6 until midnight was fine and a pleasant noise. However street cleaning and garbage collection from 3am was a real problem. I also experienced noise from other guests. When room next to mine was occupied, I could hear conversations late into the night. No breakfast facilities but plenty of options close by. Overall I would give them a good review but TA only allows for average or very good. I could not give a very good rating. Would I stay here again? Actually, yes, but for max 2 nights .I love the vibrant neighbourhood. Its like being back in Morocco.

Great stay
We had a very good time, the room was huge and the receptionist filled us with advice, some basic ones like where to drink to get free tapas. We are infinitely grateful! Excellent location for getting around the center and going to the Alhambra on foot. The only flaw is that it was a little cold and towels had to be paid for, but otherwise highly recommended!

Great value for money! Booked a double room with shared bathroom. Got a large, nicely furnished room and clean shared bathrooms. Great location of the hostel and super friendly staff. :-) Always happy to come back!
