Hostels are WAY better! :(
Are you eager to read my very first advice? DON'T even consider this venue!
... but if you have no alternatives, be ready for the following:
- Pay 100% in advance, after the check-in: no refund allowed.
- No credit or debit card accepted: Just immediate CASH!
- Not all the people undestand English ... learn a bit of Rumenian (I love the Language!)
- No breakfast available: just a coin coffee machine (2 RON=0,50 Euro)
- No water dispenser (Just a fridge with soft drinks and spirits on sale)
- No elevator (if your room is at 5th floor, enjoy the chilly "open-air" stairs).
- Try asking for a 1st floor room: you could be lucky to "catch the wireless" in the lobby
- The "Card system lock" is not true: all the rooms are provided with unsafe old style keylocks) -> (Suggestion: DON'T leave your belongings in the room: I self "open-by-lockbumping" my lock in 30 secs. :(
- Verify if your room/bathroom is clean BEFORE paying: don't take for granted the cleaning has been done.(In my case I had to SHOUT to have a clean room for day #3)
- Every time you leave the hotel repeat the request of room cleaning (you can say "curatenie in camera, mersi"- pronounced like "coorahtzeanee in cahmehrah, merci") they should understand...
- Bring shampoo from home: only a small round soap is provided (Environment friendness?)
Finally, ... if you'll somehow have that weird impression that it might be a "special hotel", the "OFERTA SPECIALE, Tarif transit 50 Lei / 3 ore" (Special offer, transit tariff 50 RON for 3 hours) should help in making up your mind.
To be fair, there was hot water, the cable internet was speedy and I managed to sleep in a relative quietness .... just because I was lucky no cars or people was passing nearby.
Now, it's up to you: wanna really test my words? Watch the pics and feel free to go ahead.
Thanks for reading ... have a nice stay (away from here) in Bucharest :)
