Imaginative Dutch dinner

The Herberg van Loon is a hotel-restaurant on a crossroads in the small village of Loon near Assen. We only went for dinner and did not sleep there. The atmosphere is pleasant and friendly, a little bit in the atmosphere of an 19th century village shop. The food was imaginative Dutch style cooking. The fish stew and the liver with onions and bacon where very good. The Grand Dessert was great!

Only choice in Loon - acceptable

Visited restaurant twice whilst staying in loon at bed and breakfast.
As this is in an extremely quiet little town, having a restaurant within walking distance is great and saves going into Assen for other choices.
Both times we had schnitzel, which was very nice and comes with chips and a wide assortment of vegetables and condiments.
Large restaurant that seats about 60, inside and outside. Both times there were about 5 other couples eating, who seemed to be locals.
Whist convenient, we did consider quite expensive, dinner and 2 beers each for 2 people was about €60.
A benefit was restaurant does take credit cards.

Lekker en gemoedelijk uit eten.

Eerst genoten van een drankje op het terras en een broodplank met wit en bruin brood in een klompje. Gezellig café restaurant met de sfeer van een huiskamer. Ze serveren zo wel een heerlijke vegetarische schotel als ook lekkere spareribs voor een prima prijs! Aanrader om met een klein groepje vrienden lekker en gemoedelijk uit eten te gaan.

Een kort bezoek aan de Herberg van Loon

Ontvangst uiterst vriendelijk, de kamer lag op de 1e verdieping (met een steile trap bereikbaar) Kamer en bed is in orden, alleen is de douche in een bad lastig, ook al door de schuine hoogte. Het ontbijt was uitgebreid, maar niet vers (op zondag een broodje verwarmen kan geen probleem zijn)

Gezamenlijk diner

Met vrienden gegeten. Bewust gekozen omdat je hier fijn en rustig kunt dineren. Zonder harde muziek en een mooie ambiance. Prima kaart met een ruime keuze. En van een uitstekende kwaliteit. Prima bediening. Extra goed was dat ze desgewenst heel bewust aandacht vroegen voor de 2 minuten stilte op de avond van de vierde meiKlasse!
