A little quirky, but good!
The food is good too - not an extensive menu but all very well cooked and presented; and really good value for money. Breakfast especially is great - complete selections of pastries, fruit, breads, meats and cheeses all served and set up for individual tables.
Staff are welcoming and always friendly; and that alone makes this a decent place to stay. The rooms are basic; but warm and clean - and again, excellent value for money.
So - one of those places - not the Ritz, but somehow a place you want to come back to. Over and over!

In the centre of the small town Balk
Beds were oke. Coffee/tea tray always nice to have. Small but efficient bathroom.
Breakfast the next morning was a delight. Table service with good cappuccino and good assortiment of teas.
Tray with assorted breadrolls, fresh croissants etc. Cold cuts, cheese, jams, boiled fresh eggs, yoghurt, fresh cut fruit.
And service with a smile!

Not sure if there is another option, but I don't recommend this place
It is on the main road in Balk, and I'm not sure if there is anything better in town or not. But we did bike by all sorts of nice places, I'm sorry we had to spend a night here.

Zoek iets anders!
De kaas in de speciaal aanbevolen maaltijdsalade met ‘Bleu de Wolvega’ ontbrak. Reactie op onze melding : “Ja, dat klopt, die zit er inderdaad niet in”. Daarna liep deze serveerster weg. Geen verontschuldiging, geen aanbod de kaas alsnog te brengen of het ontbreken ervan te compenseren.
Het incomplete gerecht verscheen wel met volledig bedrag op de rekening.
E-mail richting management leverde ook onnavolgbare, klantonvriendelijke reactie op.
Beter kies je in Balk voor een vd andere restaurants. ‘s Avond werd ons in “Bij de Luts”, een heerlijk diner geserveerd door hartelijke en professionele bediening.

Voor de snelle beslisser
Op dag 3 kwamen we aan in dit hotel.
Ontvangst was super,kamers gedateerd maar wel schoon.
Bij het avondeten werd ons gevraagd hebben jullie het fietsarrangement.
We zeiden ja dat hebben we en we kregen geen diner kaart. En ter plekke werd verteld wat we te eten konden krijgen. hierdoor kregen we het gevoel dat we goedkope gasten waren.alsof we bijzaak waren.
Dessert was goed.
Ontbijt was ook goed verzorgd.
