Gorgeous riad with amazing staff

Amazing little riad 15 min walk from the main square. Had everything we needed and more.
Staff were absolutely amazing, helped us in any way which they could with taxis, restaurants to go to as well as the local area. Breakfast was fantastic and the housekeeping was great. Air con in rooms was perfect and were able to cool down on plunge pool whenever we liked.
Rooms were spacious, roof terrace is amazing and fully equipped with sofas and sun loungers.
We had the best trip and it was all thanks you guys!! The two guys who ran the riad really made it special, they helped us so much. Thank you guys, you are a credit to Morocco!!! We will be back and would not stay anywhere else.

A Total Scam – Deceptive, Dirty and Managed by Dishonest People

I strongly advise anyone not to book at Riad Meriem Marrakech. Don’t be fooled like I was by the beautiful photos on their website, they were clearly taken years ago, and the riad looks nothing like that nowadays. The place is filthy, unsafe, and completely misrepresented online.
When I arrived, the room was in shocking condition: mould on the walls and ceilings, dirty carpet full of hair and stains, unclean toilet, shower head covered in mould and limescale, filthy pillows with what looked like blood stains, and exposed electrical wires in both the bedroom and bathroom. When I tried to plug my phone charger into the socket by the bedside table, there was a short circuit and all the lights in the room went out, which shows how unsafe the electrical system is. The terrace was dirty and neglected, with broken sunbeds that had exposed wood splinters, and the chairs used for breakfast were filthy, covered in animal footprints. My experience was absolutely unacceptable, both in terms of hygiene and honesty.
I only stayed one night because it was impossible to sleep safely or comfortably in those conditions. The next morning, I informed the manager that I was leaving and explained all my reasons calmly. He said he “understood completely,” but still charged me the full amount for four nights (€470), promising to contact me later to arrange a refund for the unused nights. That never happened.
Worse, when I filed a complaint through Booking.com, the property falsely claimed that my complaints were untrue and that I was a “no-show.” This is an outright lie! Such behaviour clearly shows that this establishment acts in bad faith and is not to be trusted.
The conditions are unsafe, the hygiene unacceptable, and the management dishonest. Do not stay here. There are plenty of far better and more reliable riads in Marrakech that respect their guests.

Authentic central Riad

It was a delight to stay at Riad Meriem 20th-24th July 2024.
Location
15 mins from the the airport. Private transfers and collection can be organised via the manager via wattsapp. Situated in the heart of the medina and just 10 mins walk from the main Jemaa el-Fnaa square.
Room
I was travelling with my friend so we had a twin room on the first floor which was very authentic, spacious, great stone shower/bath tub, aircon available and safe. Only suggestion for improvement is to have a large mirror in the main room as there was just one mirror in the bathroom.
Food
Breakfast was included and was great! Eggs, Moroccan pancakes, home made peanut butter with argon oil and pastries with orange juice and coffee. Lunch/dinner and drink can be requested in advance. We booked dinner on the first night which was lemon and olive chicken tagine and the manager organised for us lunch and drinks on request. Free bottles of water and mint tea were always provided on request.
Facilities
The roof top is great place to sit first thing in the morning for breakfast and cool of a night to sit and relax with a breeze, watch the stars and listen to the evening prayers. Downstairs is a pool which is great to have a soak on hot days to cool down.
Staff
The best thing about the Riad was the special attention we received from the staff. Marrakech can be slightly daunting when you first arrive as so different from the uk and especially for two British girls alone. Yassine, Adel and Sammy really looked after us. Adel even came to meet us after a late desert evening trip and walk us back to the Riad. While safe during the day it didn’t feel safe walking alone at night as two girls after 10pm. The special attention we received from the the staff is a reason I would recommend staying here as they went over and above to look after us, ensure we had a great time and made sure we were safe! What lovely people!
