Amazing Home Stay beautiful setting beautiful family x

Such an amazing place to stay just 10mins walk to The Yoga Barn. Breakfast was great coffee / tea / omelette or banana pancakes. Rooms are clean and tidy. The family will do everything to make you feel at home! The son drove us to Denpasar to sort out our visas and waited for us also. Mama Tulu provided me with things I needed while I was sick. The beautiful sounds of nature all day long and at night time the nature sounds send you to sleep. We only booked 5 days but then extended for 1 month we loved it that much! It was also my birthday and they brought me cakes. The nicest family you will meet. We will definitely be staying here again when we come back to Bali Ubud xxx

Detailed feedback of my recent stay

This letter serves as a formal account of my recent stay at Manuaba Inn in central Ubud, which fell drastically short of acceptable standards for health, safety, and basic comfort. I booked a 19-night stay in the largest available bungalow but was compelled to vacate after only three nights due to severe and unaddressed issues.
While the homestay's location is undoubtedly convenient, this single positive is overwhelmingly negated by the following critical concerns:
1. Critical Health and Safety Hazard: Infestation of Venomous Pests
The most alarming issue was the significant infestation of black scorpions within the room. I encountered no less than seven mid-to-large-sized scorpions, actively climbing the walls and moving across the floor. This presents an unacceptable health risk. I explicitly informed a staff member that I have a known allergic reaction to bee stings and expressed my legitimate fear that a scorpion sting could induce a similar, potentially severe, anaphylactic reaction, especially while sleeping.
The management's response was profoundly inadequate. Instead of taking immediate, decisive action to address the infestation, I was offered a mosquito spray—a solution entirely irrelevant to the threat of scorpions. My request for them to repair the visible cracks and gaps in the bathroom walls and ceiling (the clear entry points for these pests) was met with delay and inaction, despite the fact that such repairs constitute basic maintenance.
2. Severe Lack of Maintenance and Hygiene
The room itself, particularly the bathroom area surrounding the shower and toilet, is in a state of disrepair. Multiple, prominent cracks and gaps in the structure are not merely an aesthetic issue; they are the direct cause of the pest infestation and indicate a fundamental failure in property upkeep.
3. Uncontrolled Animals Posing a Nuisance and Potential Danger
The property houses six large dogs that have unrestricted access to the entire premises. While they may be intended as playful, their behavior—jumping on and biting guests—is inappropriate and intimidating. I would strongly caution families with young children, as these animals pose a tangible risk of injury.
4. Inadequate Amenities and Service Failure
The provided breakfast was exceptionally basic and minimal. More importantly, the service recovery from the staff and management was completely lacking. There was no sense of urgency, no viable solution was provided, and no empathy was shown for a situation that made my room uninhabitable. The failure to understand the severity of a scorpion infestation demonstrates a significant lapse in guest care and safety protocols.
Conclusion and Actions Taken
Due to the absolute failure of the on-site management to resolve these grave issues, I felt I had no choice but to forfeit the remainder of my paid stay and seek alternative accommodation. It is deeply disappointing that the owner has refused to offer any form of refund or compensation for the 16 unused nights, despite having received full payment in cash upon arrival.
I have already raised a formal complaint with Booking.com, through which the reservation was made, and will be seeking recourse for the nights not used through their platform.
Final Recommendation:
I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Manuaba Inn to any traveler. While I appreciate and seek out natural environments, a line must be drawn at harboring venomous pests within a paid accommodation due to neglect. There are numerous other options in Ubud where safety and basic comfort are prioritized. I strongly advise potential guests to look elsewhere to ensure a pleasant and secure stay.
Sincerely,
[A Disappointed Former Guest]

Scam and Very Very Dirty

When we arrived, they wanted to give us a smaller room than the one we had booked and after insisting, we had the room for which we had paid by booking, we call their approach a scam. After depositing our suitcases, the property requested a cash payment for the total duration of our stay. After this cash payment, the property informed us that following the death of the previous owner, the price was not the same and that a 10% tax had to be paid in addition, we specified to them that we entered into a contract for a total price with taxes included with booking that we respected and that it was necessary to contact booking for their request for extra 10% extra billing out of the hat as soon as we received our payment.
arrival, which we also call a scam.
Our comment below is supported by our attached photos, but also only reconfirms the serious malfunctions described in other advisories. Our room and bathroom were very old and very very very rooms. After 4 nights, nothing had been done, no cleaning, no bed made, no towels replaced and we discovered the condition of the mattress very dirty and extremely stained. During the breakfast served on our terrace, the big dogs of the establishment came to urinate and poop in front of us.
As a result of all these facts, we did not continue our stay in this
property, we could not stay in this hotel, we left. The photos of the pool attracted us to our choice of booking, but the reality is quite different, the water is not clear and charged with particles and the tiles of the steps are broken and very sharp and given the seriousness of the unhygienic nature of this establishment, we certainly avoided bacterial or viral contamination by not swimming there.
In all objectivity, this establishment is a scam. Pass your way.

To flee. Too many dogs on the loose in the hotel.tel

Welcoming. Pool too chlorinated.
Garden and nice vegetation. Close to downtown. Breakfast without more
6 big labradors wandering in the hotel (swimming in the pool, riding on deckchairs. You lick, chip and devour the belongings left on the terrace.
Impossible to eat breakfast without being constantly bothered... By insistent dogs!!
Conclusion One can neither stay at the pool and enjoy the terrace.

Good location, but not much more

Good location near the center of Ubud. There are a lot of things that, if improved, could make it a good establishment.
We regret: the broken and sharp pool tiles, no garbage can in the room, a more than summary cleaning, pebbles in the shower (hygiene very uncertain!), no product.for the shower. Very dirty outdoor kitchen and lack of cover...
Despite being a friend of animals, the 6 dogs that come at us every time I passed (risk of falling down the stairs...)
In short, a very average establishment, not up to our expectations.

Very good location
