GOOD AND GREAT FAMILY HOLIDAY

We had a very pleasant 4 days stay in ILBERT MANOR a beautiful Heritage Hotel in Mussoorie.
Very welcoming staff. Special mention of PADAM SINGH SHEKHAWAT, AYUSH and RITIK.
We look forward to visit their other Hotel Kanak in Jaiselmer, Rajasthan.

Worst experience ever. Disappointed. Stressful

Our stay at Ilbert Manor was extremely stressful and disappointing, especially while travelling with senior citizens above 75 years.
While we were already on our way to the hotel, we received a call saying yellow plate vehicles were not allowed near the property due to Mall Road restrictions. We explained multiple times that we were travelling with elderly women for whom vehicle access was essential, and requested cancellation under genuine circumstances. The hotel refused and showed zero empathy or flexibility.
We were forced to arrange separate paid parking at our own expense (~₹1500), manage luggage and elderly movement ourselves, while the hotel clearly stated it was “not their responsibility”.
Their shuttle service was heavily restricted between 9 AM–10 PM, which completely disrupted our itinerary. Early morning plans had to be cancelled and even birthday dinner plans had to be cut short because returning after 10 PM became difficult.
One incident particularly reflected the hotel’s attitude. In heavy traffic and scorching heat, with elderly women standing outside, we requested the staff to either let us wait briefly inside the vehicle or drop us slightly ahead near some shade while our hired car arrived. The staff refused both and forced senior citizens to get down and walk further in uncomfortable conditions.
Room allocation was equally disappointing. Despite clearly requesting accessible rooms next to each other during reservation, one room was allotted upstairs with no elevator/lift in the property. Rooms felt damp, poorly maintained, with chipped paint, dusty switchboards, and dirty windows despite claims of “newly renovated” rooms.
Breakfast service was also misleading. The buffet display/menu mentioned poha, staff initially confirmed it would be served, but after waiting 15 minutes we were told it was only available through separate à la carte ordering.
The property architecture may look beautiful, but the guest handling, maintenance, communication, and overall hospitality were deeply disappointing. The staff attitude throughout felt cold, rigid, and dismissive — more focused on rules and money than actual guest care.
Would strongly advise families, female travellers, and especially guests travelling with senior citizens to think carefully before booking this property.

Warm & comfortable stay at Ilbert Manor

Ilbert Manor has a charming architecture with vintage detailing. It felt like stepping into a different era. We had an exceptionally comfortable stay at the property and the staff is very courteous. Even though, the entry lane from mall road is narrow and winding, they have a seasoned driver for pick up and drop offs. Special mention to Ayush who was incredibly supportive and helped us in accommodating our dates. Overall, the staff was very warm, attentive and it was a unique experience.

Colonial Architecture but everything else a damper

"Stepping onto the grounds of this colonial property felt like entering a bygone era. The architecture was stunning, with meticulously preserved details and a serene, picturesque setting. The interiors were equally charming, boasting elegant décor and a tranquil ambiance. However, the idyllic facade quickly faded upon encountering the reality of the approach road: a narrow, winding path that tested even the most seasoned driver.
The breakfast, unfortunately, failed to live up to the property's aesthetic. The spread was average at best, and concerns regarding hygiene were difficult to ignore. More disappointingly, the overall service fell short of expectations. While the staff were polite, they lacked the attentiveness and efficiency one would expect from a property of this caliber.
While the beauty of the colonial architecture and setting are undeniable, the challenging access, mediocre breakfast, and subpar service ultimately overshadowed the experience. A beautiful shell, but lacking substance."
