Excellent experience

My cooking experience with Mr. Durga Singh at Dera Mandawa was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such genuine warmth and hospitality—it immediately set the tone for something special.
Mr. Singh is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about what he does. His teaching style made the cooking class both engaging and accessible, and the food we prepared was absolutely delicious. You can tell he takes great pride in sharing authentic techniques and traditions.
One of the most memorable parts of the experience was the walk through the local market. It was fascinating and unlike anything I had ever experienced—such a unique way to understand the ingredients and culture behind the cuisine.
The evening also included a wonderful puppet show, which added a charming and cultural touch to the experience.
What stood out most to me, though, was the level of care and attentiveness. I had to take an important call during the class, and Mr. Singh kindly arranged a private room for me. He ensured I had a quiet, secluded space, which made a potentially stressful situation feel completely seamless.
The entire staff was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout.
I cannot recommend this experience enough. If you’re visiting Jaipur, this is something truly special that more people should have the opportunity to enjoy.

A perfect oasis just outside the city walls

A lovely mid-range inn on the edge of the Pink City. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, the staff are considerate and attentive, and the aristocratic owners are the perfect practised hosts.
Simple and relatively inexpensive meals are served in the courtyard (weather permitting). It’s a short walk or rickshaw ride to a larger sister hotel, which has a small pool and where you can eat in the grandest dining room that you can imagine.
We were lucky to have a superior room - generous bedroom below and a gallery and small side room above. Spotlessly clean.
The hotel is just outside the walls of the Pink City, near the Chandpole Gate. The road outside is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re brave you can walk into the city - best in the morning before it starts to get busy around 11:00. If you’re adventurous, it’s only a couple of stops on the excellent metro (but you do have to cross the road to reach it!).

Very special experience!

This is a 5 out of 5 experience! More than a hotel it offers you a welcome into old Jaipur life with members of the Indian aristocracy as your hosts! We visited firstly to join in a cooking experience judged by Mr. Singh himself. It was such fun starting with a tour of the local wholesale fruit and veg market then back to the roof terrace of the Haveli to cook curries, breads and paneer. We learnt so much about the ingredients, the cooking methods, (cow dung patties as fuel!), the agriculture, the sustainability and the spicing! It was fascinating. We then sat down to eat, it was all delicious! The evening finished with a cold beer as we watched a Rajasthani puppet show.
We came back to stay a night when our planned hotel didn’t work out. We were welcomed as old friends and had a wonderful stay in a beautiful, huge room which was grand, authentic and comfortable. It had the best arrangement of furniture and facilities of any hotel we stayed in in India. The bathroom had plenty of space to put your things. It was well lit and had plenty of hot water. Super clean. There was a dressing room area with a wardrobe and drawers. Big mirror with a dressing table, plug, hairdryer, chair. Two suitcase stands, huge bed, desk and chair. Air conditioning, fan. Lovely Indian decorations. It was charming, comfortable and welcoming. It was a great room!
Breakfast was good, generous and tasty.
We really enjoyed our stay and meeting Mr. Singh was an honour.

Don’t visit Jaipur without staying here.

What an oasis of joy. This hotel, I hesitate to call it that because it is really a traditional home, and is an absolute delight. The staff are so attentive, friendly and go over and above with the most endearing attentiveness I have ever encountered. To stay here is a privilege, Mr Singh is so knowledgeable about everything there is to know about Jaipur, its history and its people. What he can’t tell you is not worth knowing. This is probably the finest hospitality I have had in India and that said, India has been kind to us all the way. If you are thinking of booking, don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful ambience

Beautiful family small boutique or home stay palace hotel. Our hostess greeted and received us very friendly. The staff are very attentive and take great care of the guests. Magnificent quiet courtyard with beautiful, cozy seating for relaxing and reading. Decorated with attention to detail (with tables for various board games). We had a suite with a gallery and plenty of seating as well as a huge bed (2nd floor). bedroom was also available). Lovingly decorated with antique furniture. Everything was very clean and we felt very comfortable. Definitely a recommendation
