A pearl in Chania

Every year we start and end our trip in Halepa Hotel. It’s such a nice place. First of all there is the building, an old embassy and you still see the beautiful furniture and decorations. The rooms are beautiful, a good bed, a good shower, a small balcony and you have space to move in your room. But most important there’s the manager and all the people that work there. The people at the reception are always available, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned every day and you feel that breakfast is made with love. There is also taxi service to the airport. Thanks to all of you and see you next year. With love, Marc and Annick
Ps, don’t forget to visit the archeological museum. It’s behind Halepa Hotel. It’s really worth to visit it. The bar of t he museum (you can go there after the museum visit, but has also separate entrance) has a big balcony with a panoramic view over Chania.

Dear Marc and Annick,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for your kind words.
It is truly an honor for all of us that you choose Halepa Hotel as both the beginning and the end of your trip year after year. We are delighted that you appreciate the character of our historic building, the comfort of our rooms, and the care our team puts into every aspect of your stay.
Your compliments to our reception staff, housekeeping team, and breakfast service mean a great deal to us. We will be sure to share your message with everyone, as it is always rewarding to know that our efforts help create memorable experiences for our guests.
We also appreciate your recommendation of the Archaeological Museum of Chania. It is indeed a wonderful attraction and one of the hidden gems of our neighborhood.
Thank you once again for your loyalty and support. We look forward to welcoming you back next year and making your stay just as enjoyable.
With our warmest regards,
The Halepa Hotel Team

Disappointing.

Very enticing photos, but the reality of the hotel is less so. There is mention of a blend of old and modern; after three nights, we are still looking for it. Objectively:
- very noisy hotel due to its design, with little soundproofing, and large marble corridors that amplify every voice.
- clientele mainly from Northern Europe, English, Germans, Belgians, older and very noisy.
- the road that runs right in front of the hotel is very noisy.
- air traffic.
- mediocre environment, view of abandoned parking lots or crumbling walls.
- while a pool is mentioned, do not count on it; it does not exist: only a jacuzzi for four and a non-heated 4m2 pool.

Cher Client,
Cordialement,
Kostas Chrysanthos

Hotel full of character, good service and peace

My dad and I had a great 10 day stay and the hotel was so quiet - bar other guests letting doors slam etc but not late at night, thankfully. The staff were all really helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious and cleaned every day, which we did not expect. The hotel is set back from the road and the bedrooms are at the rear so there is no noise from the busy road. The breakfast was also really good and an excellent variety. The one small negative is as there is no real pool space most people do not stay around the hotel in the day or even in the evening, the bar is a lovely area with original features but you are unlikely to find any other guests so the atmosphere is lacking. The walk into Chania old town is 20 to 30 minutes but there is also the number 11 bus with a stop right outside the hotel and it takes you right into the centre (or further on to the beach). All in all we had a great stay - thank you Halepa Team :0)

Looking for Hospitality? Keep Looking

Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing, mainly due to the attitude of the staff and the way guest concerns were handled.
During our stay, I suffered a minor facial burn caused by sudden and significant fluctuations in the shower water temperature. When we reported the issue to the hotel staff, particularly the manager, we expected concern and a willingness to resolve the problem. Instead, we felt that the attitude towards us changed noticeably afterward.
Later, our room was not cleaned. When we asked for housekeeping, we had to request it multiple times. At one point, we were handed garbage bags and effectively told to deal with part of the situation ourselves. When we explained that room cleaning is a basic hotel service, the response we received was that the staff were tired and in a bad mood. To make matters worse, they laughed while discussing the issue, which we found highly unprofessional and disrespectful.
What disappointed us most was not the mistakes themselves, as problems can happen in any hotel. It was the lack of hospitality, empathy, and accountability in addressing them. We felt that our concerns were dismissed rather than taken seriously.
The breakfast was also very poor and well below what we expected for the price and category of the property.
Crete offers many excellent accommodation options. Based on our experience, I would encourage future travelers to consider spending a little more and staying elsewhere. Good service, professionalism, and respect for guests are worth far more than saving a few euros.
Unfortunately, this hotel failed to provide any of those qualities.

My 10 day home.

Stayed at Halepa for 10 days and really liked it. Nice room, cleaned daily, staff always friendly. Great place to have for your daily trips. When back you can have some more relax time on the rooftop with whirlpool.
Hotel has a large parking area at the back.
