Good selection of clothes and makeup was professional. Photographer could pose you well. You should reserve and make sure the price is right. Not swindled but expensive.

Find Peace And Solitude In A Gem Of A Resort

Banyan Tree Ringha is a gem of a resort. Expansive suites are housed in traditional Tibetan homes and set alongside a picturesque river. Postcard-worthy views can be had from your room’s verandah. Interiors are traditional yet plush. There is so much space that one wouldn't know what to do with it all. The bathroom on the ground floor is almost the same size as the bedroom and living room upstairs. These accommodations are truly one-of-a-kind. There are quirks to the rooms like dim lighting in the dressing room area and having to walk downstairs to use the toilet but overall it feels authentic and luxurious.
The staff are so kind. Everyone remembered you — you weren’t just a number. The standard of English was very good. They really couldn’t do enough for you. Those at the restaurants will explain to you menu items that are local to the area and teach you how to eat them. When you get dropped off at the lobby, you’ll be offered local tea and biscuits. This team is quite the opposite to the one at the mediocre sister property in Lijiang. Thank you to Lucy and Zhouma amongst the many others whose names we didn’t get. One felt taken care of and looked after.
I did not feel any altitude sickness though the short walks up the hill did leave me breathless. There is an oxygen machine in the bedroom if needed.
Thank you for a truly unique stay that was both peaceful and relaxing.

Refreshing and authentic.

We loved the change of scenery at the Banyan Tree Ringha. Remote from the city, by the river, with a view of the free-roaming horses. The decor is typical, although very outdated. The staff is very friendly. There are several walks in the area to enjoy, including one to the temple, which is very authentic and without tourists. I highly recommend staying at the hotel for 1 or 2 nights for a break.

A tribute to Tibetan culture and staff that is truly family

This was our home away from home. The Tibetan farmhouses were beautiful, but the highlight were the staff. Thank you Zhuoma for arranging everything, Lydia & her team for the most amazing massages and for your company at the gift shop, Duoma for taking care of our meals, and really everyone who made our stay incredibly memorable. This Banyan Tree is the most unique we ever stayed in, and the story behind the farmhouses is a such honor to the Tibetan community. Ringha itself by a river and a quiet village, with a humble but beautiful temple, more authentic than other ones in Shangri-la, worth a hike. We can’t wait to come back
