Wonderful!
A bit difficult to find as Google Streetview's entry was 10 years old but then it was as we had hoped it would be: A new and stylish palafito integrated into a row of colourful palafitos with a history...
Cecilia had already been waiting for us, helped us to get the car parked without dents (2 narrow on-site parking spots) and explained everything we had to know about the 42 m2 apartment on the ground floor, in particular how to operate the pellet stove. The apartment was just wonderful - wood all over the place including the small bathroom, a well-equipped kitchenette with a matching dining area, a cosy sofa corner with a beautifully woven carpet, a large comfortable bed, the most valuable stove (outside temperatures had still been chilly) and last but not least the wide terrace overlooking the bay with the anchored fishing boats and the "MS World" that had paid a 2-day visit to Castro during our stay.
Cecilia had also got us all we needed for breakfast: coffee, tea, milk, butter, jelly, cereal, cake, eggs, fruit, yoghurt and the like.
The Palafito was a little paradise - calm at night and at walking distance to the Port, the crafts market and downtown sights. We also loved the restaurant next door where they treated us like neighbours...
I'm so glad that I opted for this Palafito instead of one of the Castro hotels. An advice to tourists from outside Latin America: Some basic Spanish will be helpful...

Untrustworthy! Miserabler Service
Palafito del Carpentero
This is not a hotel!! Rather, apartments with minimal food supply are rented as breakfast for self-catering.
We had booked two rooms for four adults and a small child including breakfast through Booking.com.
The owner requested full prepayment via an external web link. However, this is contrary to Booking.com's policy. I declined the advance payment and insisted on a cash payment upon arrival as stated in the property's policies. The landlady then refused our booking, on the grounds that it was not possible for our young child to sleep on the sofa in the large studio on the ground floor. An extra bed is also not possible. She cancelled our booking at Booking.com and now wanted us to complete the booking directly with her to save herself the Booking.com commission. She now offered us an apartment over two floors that had 5 beds.
We then paid a deposit of half of the agreed booking amount.
When we arrived at the house at the agreed time in the evening, no one was on site. At our telephone inquiry we have now been informed of a key hiding place. The key we found there, however, only opened the large apartment on the ground floor, which was obviously also prepared for our arrival. However, there was no key for the second room. After we had called the landlady three times, after about 30 minutes of waiting finally a housekeeper appeared. She apologized for not being told that five people were arriving. However, all rooms were vacant.
She now offered us, in addition to the ground floor studio where she wanted to prepare the sofa for our child, also the above double room to accommodate the two other adults. Now, however, the landlady insisted by telephone that the rooms did not have enough beds. The apartment over two floors that she then offered us again, however, was not prepared and also in significantly worse condition. There, too, our daughter should now sleep on a sofa, alone on the ground floor, while both double rooms for the adults were on the first floor, one with a small window to the very noisy thoroughfare.
We now rejected this, because it in no way corresponded to the photos published on Booking.com.
The down payment was promised to us by the landlady.
However, even after several requests and after more than two weeks, the money was not repaid to us. The last answer was to keep calm and be glad she didn't ask for the whole amount. The entire procedure was extremely dubious, downright outrageous and to our detriment.
We will never book there again!

Bellísimo !!
Una belleza todo el apartamento , limpio , súper acogedor , con unas vistas de la bahía bellísimas! El desayuno súper completo y abundante , lo dejaban listo la tarde anterior . Cecilia nos espero con la estufa encendía ya que hacía bastante frío ! Una belleza !
La atención de Vanina y Cecilia de maravilla , muy cordiales y serviciales .
Volveríamos a este lugar y nos hubiera gustado poder hospedarnos durante toda nuestra estadía en Castro . Una pena que la página web del lugar no estaba activa o actualizada , ya que enviamos mensajes a esos contactos y no tuvimos respuesta . Recién en Chile pudimos hacerlo . Una pena ! Y al lado justo está el
Restaurant Sabores de mi Tierra , súper recomendable, comida deliciosa , y podes comprar y traerte al palafito !
Cuando estuvimos no había gente arriba , o en el costado derecho , solo en el izquierdo y no se escuchaban ruidos , así como tampoco los del restaurant .

Buen lugar. Buen concepto pero….
Buen lugar. Muy bonito. Buen concepto. Pero se escucha todo lo de otras piezas y al lado hay un pub restaurant q hacen fiesta hasta las 3 am y es como que estuvieran en tu oído.
Lo otro es que compramos por Booking.com y decía que se pagaba con tarjeta de crédito y finalmente la dueña te contacta apenas haces la reserva y te exige la mitad por transferencia y la otra mitad tb por transferencia al final. Y nada de tarjeta xq no tiene la máquina. Así q exijan la boleta al menos porque es caro y queríamos pagar en 3 cuotas y ♀️

Espectacular Lugar
Maravillso lugar para ir en Familia. Palafito decorado y diseñado estilo moderno con mucha madera y elementos locales, muy cómodo. Estuvimos en el loft (2 pisos) , muy calentitos y cómodos. La vista preciosa, las piezas espectaculares, pudimos cocinar nuesta comida algunos días (todos los elementos de cocina bien pensados y nuevos) y el desayuno es rico, natural y variado. La administradora (Camila) es extremadamente amable, atenta a cuaqluier requerimiento y solítica para dar itinerarios y datos sobre recorriedo en la Isla. Absolutamente recomendable
