Cozy clean room. Our hosts, the property owners of this beautiful estate were friendly. Gorgeous view of the Okanagan lake and Naramata vineyards!

Terrible response during a natural disaster and safety crisis

My partner and I had a trip planned to visit Munson Mountain Estate in Penticton, but a nearby wildfire and rapidly deteriorating air quality forced an expanded evacuation alert and order in the local area. Furthermore, the city officially cancelled events due to the hazardous smoke conditions.
Given the mandatory safety risks and official advisories, we immediately contacted the hotel the day before our arrival to request a reasonable solution—either a refund or a future credit. Disappointingly, management flatly refused to provide any accommodation or flexibility whatsoever, choosing to pocket our money rather than prioritize guest safety during an active environmental emergency.
It is completely unacceptable for a hospitality business to penalize travelers for avoiding a dangerous natural disaster. We will not be returning and strongly advise others to book elsewhere with a hotel that values customer well-being over profit in a crisis.

If you want to sleep past 5AM on your vacation, this is not the place to do it. The owner has placed a chicken coop directly behind the rooms, with a very persistent rooster that begins crowing just before 5AM daily. Ear plugs did not even drown him out!!! Continental breakfast was fine, although the selections didn’t change at all during our 5 day stay. Room was spacious. No towel change out or anything like that took place either. The resident cats were cool. We didn’t see any other humans during the entire stay.

Location is great!
Welcome email included only passcode to room and front gate. No other description of other amenities, no map of facilities.
Room door lock didn't work to open or close/lock. Owner was responsive, but still took 2 days to fix. Remote for gate never worked.
Room was fairly clean on arrival. Lots of ants, some cobwebs. Shower drain was clogged and water gathered around ankles quickly. Towels, linens, glassware were not changed during our 5-night visit. We ran out of shampoo/body wash after a couple of days (bottle was mostly empty on arrival).
Breakfast was advertised as continental. Included 1/2 a loaf of bread, some cereal and an already opened container of milk. Fridge had a few apples and some half eaten containers of berries. There was also some yogurt. Freezer was full of frozen meat and some melted/refrozen fudgicles.
No cable TV and spotty Internet connection.
Not possible to open night shades or windows while maintaining privacy so the room was dark and stuffy. Ceiling fan didn't work.
Driveway was very narrow to parking location. Not well light at night.
Based on 5-star reviews, we were disappointed in the quality of our stay.

This lovely place is so accessible to wineries, the Kettle Valley trail and all the amenities of Penticton yet the rural location is peaceful and relaxing.
