Quick overnight stay on the way further south. Automated service works well and keeps the prices down.

Very understated nod to times gone by… MCM… drive up motel that is well positioned to the town. Very clean with very comfortable beds. And a great selection of pillow choices. Noone wants prison style pillows nor over filled ones.

Good for what it is

Reasonably priced motel in heart of Braidwood. Walk to local cafes and shops. Basic, clean with decent bed, tv, small fridge & coffee making facilities, air con, microwave, desk. Friendly house keeping. Limited room space but ok for short stay. Appeared to be popular with workers and their SUVs/trucks staying overnight. What is it that they like to park in front of your room instead of their own?
No views, but some nice spring blossoming trees about.
Mostly all online re booking and instructions for pin entry to room. So limited personal touch except for chat with housekeeping if you there when they are about. Look out for longer stay deals.
Small bathroom with decent hot shower. Small narrow sink a bit badly designed though when trying to brush teeth or shave (results in messy floor). Like most motels, not really for rest or staying in room during day with cars/people coming and going.

Dreadful check-in experience and overall disappointing stay.

My partner and I had an event in town so decided to rent a room for the night. We booked the Cedar Lodge online the day before our stay and received a confirmation of booking that day. The booking said to bring photo ID for check-in. It was fortunate that someone I know recently stayed there and that you are supposed to receive a code number for the room door, so I wondered why we'd need ID.
I expected the code would arrive just prior to check-in the following day but by 1pm we hadn't received anything. So began the process of calling the Cedar Lodge. I tried the 1800 number on the booking conf but that was disconnected. The other number was in the US (???) which I decided against calling. We found a card with the motel local number and called, only to be put through to a voice mail for Mona Farm? I left a message and waited. And we rang again...and we waited. My partner went to the motel and rang the number on the door but that also went through to voice mail. We tried that number and the others several times and in the end were close to giving up. I even emailed the website in the hopes someone would see it. Nothing. Eventually I tried one more time and got through. But by this time it was 3.15pm and we were stressed to the max not knowing how we were going to get into our room, nor even which room we were in.
We finally got into the room which was severely underwhelming considering we'd had to fork out $244 for one night. $75 of which was "service charges and taxes". I was gasping for a cup of tea but when I took one look at the kettle I changed my mind.
A quick survey of the tiny box room, saw peeling paint, holes in walls, stains on carpets, and a bathroom straight out of 1980. The TV only had about 4 channels and we didn't get the free wifi code. The message on the 'reception' door said "call us if you're having trouble with the wifi"...after our previous phone fun we decided it wasn't worth it. We were exhausted and had planned to rest before going out but had wasted so much time trying to get in.
There were a couple of plusses.. the beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was good - although I tried to adjust the head at one point but water started squirting out from the pipe joint so I felt it best to leave it in case it broke off.
Overalll, for the price, it was a really disappointing and stressful experience.
Might I suggest, if you're going to run this kind of quick-buck, no staff, operation, you should at least spend a little bit of money and pay someone to make a call to each guest prior to check-in to ensure the guest has access to the room and everything they need.

An excellent overnight in Braidwood.

The Cedar Lodge may not be the place for a long holiday stay but for an overnight or two stop convenient to Braidwood town it is fine. The room was clean and large enough. As a photographer with digital cameras I appreciated the good availability of power points - but one under the desk/table would have been good. The bathroom was all that was needed and the bed was comfortable. Clothes storage was fully adequate.
But ring the Lodge directly to book. Don't go via Bookings.com unless you want a flood of advertising and stuff you do not need.

Possiby the worst experience ever trying to access our room.

We booked this motel to attend a funeral in Braidwood. It was possibly the worst experience we’ve ever had in trying to access our room. DO NOT book through “guestreservations.com”.
After reading previous reviews and also reading the terms and conditions, we waited for an email to advise us of the numerical code to access our room. It was never sent. We contacted guestreservations.com on a number that was hidden in our booking confirmation, only to find it was based in the USA. Despite repeatedly saying that we needed a code to access the room and there were no staff on site, the customer service agent advised us otherwise.
We arrived at the motel, no access code, no staff! We phoned a local number which was put on one of the doors and it went straight to voicemail. Tried again 5 minutes later and thankfully, someone answered. We explained our predicament and 10 minutes later, got a call back with the code.
We noticed that this issue has been ongoing and yet, nothing has been done!
A very basic motel which is in dire need of an upgrade.
