The city of Fort Myers, named after Colonel Abraham Myers, is the country seat and the commercial centre of Lee County in the state of Florida within the United States. Currently home to approximately 66,000 inhabitants, the city was founded in mid- to late 1880s, covering a piece of land that measures 126.9 square kilometres or 48.98 square miles in total. With regards to the weather and temperature within Fort Myers, the city has a tropical savannah climate, with temperature that ranges between an average high of 29.3 degrees Celsius or 84.7 degrees Fahrenheit, with an average low of 18.6 degrees Celsius or 65.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fort Myers is known to have tourist destinations and attractions like Imaginarium Hands-On Museum and Aquarium, Lakes Regional Park, jetBlue Park at Fenway South, Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, Hammond Stadium, Murphy-Burroughs House, Edison and Ford Winter Estates, Estero Bay Preserve State Park, Alico Area, and City of Palms Park, to name a few. Lakes Regional Park, or Lakes Park, is a public park that occupies a 113-hectare, 279-acre area towards the south of Fort Myers in Florida. The park was opened to the public in the early 1980s and was named after its man-made freshwater lakes. Within the park grounds, there is a good number of wildlife that can be spotted. Also, there are 2.5 miles of walking and biking trails that run along the lakes in the park. The park also offers playgrounds, fragrance garden with various herbs, butterfly, and cactus gardens, along with a large field for the recreational activities held within the grounds. Lakes Regional Park also has a Train Village, with the Lakes Parks & Gulf Railroad. The railroad extends and takes its riders on a 15-minute ride via the miniature railway. The ride goes from the Railroad Museum of South Florida’s Train Village from the park’s central area and goes through the north end of the property. Other than the miniature railway and the museum, the Train Village area also has a full-size locomotive and caboose on display, along with a playground for children.

Fort Myers has Lee Tran as its local bus service, with a good number of bus lines that cross through the city. As a city with near-tropical climate, Fort Myers is best explored with a bicycle, although look out for sudden showers during the wet season, and always stay hydrated. Within the city, there are tolls for Sanibel Causeway, along with Midpoint and Cape Coral Pkwy or Colonial Bridge. It is almost inevitable to pass by the tolls, unless you go through Downtown Fort Myers and US-41.
