To return to the airport from central Birmingham, get on Interstate 59/20 eastbound to exit 129. Turn left at the end of the exit. Continue on Messer Airport Highway to the airport. If you're coming in from Atlanta, go westbound on Interstate 20 to Interstate 59/20. Take exit 129 and follow Messer Airport Highway to the airport.

Traffic can be congested during rush hour, usually from 6:00AM to 9:00AM and 4:00PM to 6:00PM. It would be best to avoid the interchange of I-59 and I-65 downtown, as well as Highway 280 during these times.

From the airport, you can either take the I-65 S or US-82 E to reach Montgomery.

Nashville is accessible via three routes: I-65 N, State Highway 79 N and I-65 N, and I-59 N and I-24 W.
