Adelaide airport departure information

On the day of your travel from Adelaide to Uluru, make sure you arrive at the airport at least 30-60 minutes before your scheduled flight time so as to give yourself a chance to check in and drop off your luggage. Keep in mind that you’ll need to carry a driver’s licence or other form of identification with you too.

It takes around ten minutes’ drive time from the Adelaide CBD to the airport, a journey of 7km. To get there by taxi will cost you between $20 to $25.

Alternatively, there’s also the Airport City Shuttle bus or the bus services run by the Adelaide Metro. The bus company has two services available: the quicker JetExpress double-decker vehicles or the frequently stopping JetBus services. Check with the business directly to find out which service will be best for your pick-up location.

Once you arrive at the Adelaide airport (the fifth busiest in all of Australia), you can spend your pre-boarding time doing some last-minute shopping at some of the many stores in the terminal. These include book shops, boutiques, a chemist and a news agency. After your flight to Uluru from Adelaide, you can pick up some refreshments from the airport cafe, or look for a souvenir straight away at the on-site retail outlet (although these services are not available all day and night due to the airport being a small, remote facility). The Ayers Rock airport also has Wi-Fi in the terminal, plus a post box, bathrooms, and baby care rooms.

When you’re ready to leave the airport, you can choose to rent a car (Skyscanner offers a handy hire car service if you want to book ahead of time to save some money), or alternatively arrange for a seat on the complimentary shuttle bus that runs between the airport and Ayers Rock Resort. It’s important to note that there are no taxi services in and around Uluru, so it typically pays to arrange your transportation before you arrive at the airport.

Other important information to note:

While the average price for a meal from an inexpensive restaurant in Adelaide is $18, you’ll typically find that the cost can be a bit higher in Uluru due to its remote location and small number of venues. You may pay up to $90 for a meal at a top-end restaurant. Keep in mind too that Uluru is a much warmer destination than Adelaide, so pack accordingly.
