Discover Rio Verde
Rio Verde Airport, also known as the General Leite de Castro Airport, is a public airport serving Rio Verde in the Goias province of Brazil. It is located 17°50′05″ South and 050°57′22″ West of the equator, sitting at an elevation of 2,464 feet above mean sea level. It has one asphalt runway measuring 4,921 feet long.
Rio Verde Airport is one of the domestic airports serving the province of Goias in Brazil. Goias, formerly called Goyaz, is a state of Brazil located in the central part of the country. Its name comes from the name of an indigenous community, with its original word seemingly coming from ethnic 'guaia', which means the same person or people of the same origin. Considered as the most central of the Brazilian states and the most populous of the region, Goias is characterised by a landscape of plateaus.
What to see & do
Staple go-to attractions within the province include the Emas National Park, where typical flora and fauna from the region can be visited and viewed, along with the Chapada dos Veadeiros, where canyons, valleys, rapids, and waterfalls are highlighted. Other attractions meanwhile include the beaches, which only appear during drought along the Araguaia River; the historical old Goias, a World Heritage Site that is established in the beginning of the 18th century; and the hot water wells of Caldas Novas, whose 'healing' and therapeutic capabilities attract a million tourists each year. There is also Pirenopolis, a picturesque city that is known for its natural wonders, preserved colonial houses, and steep stone streets.
It is not surprising though, that the said region attracts numerous tourists each year, because Brazil, its mother country – is a favourite destination in South America. Brazil receives hundreds of thousands of tourists for its colourful culture, superb destinations, and vibrant wildlife that are all primary attractions.
Brazil's Rio de Janeiro for example, is a favourite cultural destination famed for its Carnival, while the city of Salvador is famed for its markets and beaches. Further, Manaus, Fortaleza, Curitiba, and the capital Brasilia – all have wonders of its own, so when you're already done exploring Rio Verde, and further the whole province of Goias, you still have plenty of options.
How to get around within Rio Verde
Although the fare is quite cheap, taxis are not frequent in Rio Verde. The city also does not have bike lanes, and the buses are old.
