Adisucipto International Airport, alternatively spelled as Adisutjipto International Airport, is a public airport that serves as the main connection for Yogyakarta, in Java, Indonesia. The airport has had approximately 4.3 million enplanements in 2011, and operates with two runways measuring between 1,337 to 2,200 metres or 4,385 to 7,215 feet in length, with asphalt and grass surfaces. Adisucipto International Airport is situated within the Sleman Regency, in the Yogyakarta Special Region, near the northeast outskirts of Yogyakarta and also near the historic temple site of Prambanan. The airport resides at an elevation 107 metres or 350 feet above mean sea level.

Also referred to as Jogja or Jogjakarta, Yogyakarta is the capital of Yogyakarta Special Region located in Java, Indonesia. The city occupies an area of around 32.5 square kilometres or 12.5 square miles and experiences an annual climate with an average high temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, 86 degrees Fahrenheit, and an average low temperature of 22 degrees Celsius or 71 degrees Fahrenheit. When in Yogyakarta, some of its points of interest include Prambanan, Taman Sari, Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat, Fort Vredeburg Museum, and Borobudur Temple Compounds, Candi Prambanan, Monument Yogya Kembali, to name a few. Visit Yogyakarta’s Fort Vredeburg Museum, or officially the Museum Benteng Vredeburg Yogyakarta, for its various exhibitions and collections. The museum was established in the late 1980s, albeit the fortress found within the grounds was founded in 1760, and was then rebuilt after having been destroyed by an earthquake. Nowadays the Fort Vredeburg Museum offers a great collection of unique and interesting old photographs, historical pieces, dioramas, as well as various replicas.
How to get around within Yogyakarta
There is a good amount of ways to get around the city of Yogyakarta. Transportation options include shared and solo options like the bus, horse cart, trishaw, taxi, and car or motorbike. When taking a bus in Yogyakarta, the city is served by small and medium sized buses, which come in regular and patas. The regular buses go from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some long routes extended until 9:00 p.m. The patas buses or TransJogja go are operational starting from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and stop by areas with designated shelters. When comparing the two bus types, TransJogja has air-conditioned buses and are safer than the regular buses.
Taxis within Yogyakarta are metered with a flag down rate, although at night there is a minimum fare. Some of the taxis in the city can be requested for pick up via text, or online via “bluetaksi”. Horse carts, typically called “andong” or “dokar”, wait for tourists out train stations, among other areas. When taking the horse carts, it is recommended to bargain or haggle for the lowest price possible. It has the capacity to take five adult passengers per trip. Trishaws, or the three-wheeled, pedal-powered carts referred to as “becak”, are the same with the carts where it is needed to haggle over the fare before taking one. Also, ensure that along with the settled price, the trip type is clear – either one-way or return. “Pulang” trip is when the driver can wait for you while you conduct your business. Cars and motorbikes can also be rented when needed. There are a couple rental operators located by Tugu Station, close to Jalan Pasar Kembang.
