The Rosario Seaplane Base is a public use seaplane base adjacent to Rosario, on the Orcas Island in San Juan County, Washington. It is privately owned by Rosario Resort, and uses the IATA code RSJ. The seaplane base has two seaplane landing areas: 7/25 measuring 2,500 feet long and 16/34 measuring 10,000 feet long.

Orcas Island (San Juan County) – Orcas Island is the largest of the San Juan Islands, which are located in the north-western corner of Washington state in San Juan County, Washington. The name of the place originated from Horcasitas, or Juan Vicente de Guemes Padilla Horcasitas y Aguayo, 2nd Count of Revillagigedo, the Viceroy of Mexico who sent an exploration expedition to the Pacific North-west in 1791. During the voyage, Eliza explored part of the San Juan Islands, and has named the part of the archipelago to the said 2nd Count of Revillagigedo. Within the island, travellers may explore the Orcas Island Historical Museum, which is located down town Eastsound. It is known as the only object-based, interpretive heritage facility on the island and is home to a permanent collection of about 6,000 items, paper documetns, and photographs. On the island there are also the historic camps of Camp Orkila, Four Winds Westward Ho, and Camp Pndralaya. The Lambiel Museum can also be found on Orcas Island. It has a small private collection situated in the home of local resident Leo Lambiel. The museum houses a collection of works inspired by the San Juan Islands. The island can be accessed via private air and charter services.

Moran State Park (San Juan County) – The Moran State Park is a Washington state park located on Orcas Island, which encompasses over 5,000 acres of forest. It is the largest public recreation area in the San Juan Islands, and is the home to Mount Constitution – which is the main attraction of the park. Several outdoor activities, including trekking, biking, and hiking, can be enjoyed here.

Friday Harbor – Friday Harbor is the major commercial centre located on San Juan Island in San Juan County. It has a population of 2,162 during the 2010 census, which equals to some 1,015 households. The town is world-famous for its marine biology facilities.

How to get around within Rosario

The nicest way to get around Orcas Island is by bicycle. Travellers can either bring their bike along with them on the ferry to the island, or rent one from the outlets in the island. Transportation within Orcas Island is also operated by Orcas Island Shuttle, which runs five round-trips daily in the summer between the ferry landing and Moran State Park. The shuttle has stops at Rosario Resort, Cascade Harbor Inn/Discovery House, Moran State Park, Country Corner/Inn At Ship Bay, the airport, Eastsound/Outlook Inn, the golf course, West Sound, Deer Harbor, and the ferry dock. Taxis also serve the island, as well as car rental companies.
