When flying into Islamabad or its twin city Rawalpindi, in Pakistan, the airport that serves the destination is Benazir Bhutto International Airport. Located outside of the country’s capital, Islamabad, and within Chaklala, Rawalpindi, this public/military airport works as hub for Pakistan International Airlines and Shaheen Air International. Although the airport is located outside of Islamabad, it still serves as the main airport of the capital, and has had approximately 8.4 million enplanements in 2014. Benazir Bhutto International Airport has one asphalt-surfaced runway that measures approximately 3,300 metres or 10,800 feet long. The airport resides at an elevation of 508 metres or 1,688 feet above mean sea level.

Islamabad Zoo, on the other hand, or the former Marghazar Zoo, can be found on an 82-acre, 33-hectare area within Islamabad Capital Territory. Opened in the late 1970s, the zoo is home to approximately 600 animals with the ostrich, black swan, leopard, vervet monkey, in addition to many more.

How to get around within Islamabad

Getting around Islamabad in Pakistan can be done via the monorail, taxi, bus, as well as by car. When going by car, some of the roads that serve Islamabad include a comprehensive network of motorways that connect with various parts of the city and its surrounding areas. Roads within the area include M-2 Motorway, M-1 Motorway, Faizabad Interchange, and Islamabad expressway, to name a few. The main roads within Islamabad have a fair amount of signs and directions not available on the smaller roads, although the city has a grid and numbering system that makes for an easier drive around the area.
