Discover Round Lake

Round Lake (Weagamow Lake) Airport is the Canadian public airport situated 1.9 kilometres east of Round Lake, Ontario. The airport is operated by the Government of Ontario and resides at an elevation of 974 ft (297 m) above mean sea level. It has a runway designated 03/21, with a gravel surface at the length of 3,613 ft (1,101 m).

Round Lake First Nation, officially registered with the Indian and Northern Affairs Canada as North Caribou Lake First Nation, is an Oji-Cree First Nation. It is located in the Kenora District in northern Ontario, Canada. It is also known as Weagamow First Nation due to its location on Weagamow Lake, which, when translated from the Oji-Cree word Wiyaagamaa, translates to "Round Lake." 

 

What to see & do

Husky the Muskie - Husky the Muskie is a 40-foot-tall outdoor sculpture of a muskellunge, a specie of large, relatively uncommon freshwater fish of North America. The sculpture is located in the McLeod Park in Kenora. 

Ojibway Provincial Park - Ojibway Provincial Park is located 25 kilometres southwest of Sioux Lookout. It encompasses the Little Vermilion Lake, where visitors can go swimming, lounge around on the sandy beach, or go fishing for muskellunge. There are trails along the shore and through pine forests in the park. 

Ena Lake - Ena Lake is a lake in Unorganized Kenora District. It is located about 23 kilometres north of the city of Kenora. Ena Lake is also the name given to the unincorporated area and railway point adjacent to the lake. The lake itself is a Canadian Shield lake, typical in that the water is clear and cool and the shore is rocky with high ridges and hills. 

Donnelly's Minitaki Lodge - The Donnelly's Minnitaki Lodge is located on the Minnitaki Lake, a large lake with numerous islands. It is situated on the shores of the Pickerel Arm of the lake. The nearest city is Sioux Lookout. Minnitaki Lake is popular with those who are into the hobby of fishing, especially for its Walleye, Northern, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout, Perch, and Whitefish.

 

How to get around within Round Lake

The northern communities of Kenora Distraict have access to a seasonal ice/winter road network. Some of the most remote parts can be reached through year-round air and summertime river transport.
