What to see & do

Delkatla Wildlife Sanctuary - The Delkatla Wildlife Sanctuary occupies a 290-hectare intertidal wetland in Masset. The area is a migratory stopover for birds during spring and fall, a wintering waterfowl area, and home to several summering nesting species. Up to 140 different bird species have been reportedly seen in the area, including Red Knots and marbled Godwits. Delkatla is the only Migratory Bird Sanctuary on Haida Gwaii. It mostly attracts bird watchers and photographers, but most other tourists enjoy seeing the birds as well.

Jesse Simpson Public Library - The Jesse Simpson Public Library is open twice during the weekdays and on Saturday afternoons. The library is located across from the Royal Canadian Legion.

Agate Beach - Agate Beach is a vast rocky beach known for its various interesting rocks, stones, and pebbles. These come in all shapes, sizes, and colours, with some even being multi-coloured.

Tow Hill and Blow Hole Hiking Trail - The trail leading to the Blow Hole is the same trail as the one leading to Tow Hill lookout. The trail starts at a parking lot with a small picnic area and some pit toilets. Halfway through, the trail is split into two: the left leads to Tow Hill, while the right leads to the coast and the Blow Hole. Tow Hill is a large isolated volcanic plug with faceted columnar-jointed solidified basalt columns, situated some 23 kilometres east of Masset. It is considered to be the most distinctive navigational landmark on North Beach. On Tow Hill Road there is a charming little bakery with a covered outdoor eating area. There are benches, comfortable armchairs, and even a couple of hammocks for visitors to rest. On the other hand, if you choose to take the Blow Hole trail, you will be led to a coastline covered in lava-like rock formations, shooting surge channels that crash into the shoreline and send mist into the air, and towering rock cliffs.
