Cheap Flights to The Pas Airport

The Pas Airport is a public airport located 19 kilometres northeast of The Pas, Manitoba, Canada. The airport is operated by the town of The Pas. It resides at an elevation of 888 feet (271 metres). It has one runway designated 13/31, with an asphalt surface at the length of 5,901 feet (1,799 metres).

 

The Pas, or Le Pas, is one of the oldest settlements in northern Manitoba. The town is situated at the confluence of the rivers Pasquia and Saskatchewan in the Northern Region. It is approximately 630 kilometres northwest of the provincial capital of Manitoba, Winnipeg. The town is known as the Gateway to the North.

 

Sam Waller Museum - The Sam Waller Museum is dedicated to preserving artefacts relating to the rich and diverse history of The Pas and the rest of northern Manitoba. Built in 1916, it is the oldest brick building in The Pas and was initially used as a courthouse. The permanent exhibits include the First Nations history, fur trade, Métis history, and the mission period. The permanent collection contains over 70,000 items from the collection of the collector, taxidermist, and serious museum curator and teacher Sam Waller. The museum also consists of a research library, meeting lounge, tourist information centre, and gift shop.

 

Northern Manitoba's Trappers' Festival - The Northern Manitoba Trappers' Festival is an annual event in The Pas held during the third weekend of February. The first festival was held in 1916 but was formally constituted in 1948. It celebrates the diverse cultural heritage of northern Manitoba. Major events include the World Championship Dog Race and the King, Queen, and Youth Trapper events. There are also contests based on lifestyle, livelihood, and survival of the trapper, as well as the arts and crafts show, amateur talent show, Fur Queen Competition, beer fest, and more.

 

Clearwater Lake Provincial Park - The Clearwater Lake Provincial Park is located about 20 kilometres north of The Pas. Clearwater Lake, the park's main feature, is one of the three true-blue lakes in the world. There are appropriate facilities so visitors can go swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, or camping.  

Charlebois Chapel - In 1897, cleric Ovide Charlebois built the first Roman Catholic church in northern Manitoba using squared log construction. The small chapel was the base for Charlebois' missionary work.

 

Christ Church - The Christ Church was established by the first Aboriginal ordained to the Anglican ministry, Rev. Henry Budd. It is one of the three Anglican churches in the area, the other two being Church of the Redeemer and the Church of the Messiah. Services are held every Sundays and Tuesdays.

 

Manitoba is quite large, so the most convenient way to get around independently is by renting a car. However, a bus service serves much of the province. There is also intraprovincial train service from Winnipeg Union Station to Churchill.

 

The Pas Airport is served by two airlines: Bearskin Airlines and Calm Air. Bearskin Airlines offers flights to The Pas from Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, the international airport serving Winnipeg. It also offers flights to 17 other destinations in Manitoba and Ontario. Calm Air operates from Flin Flon Airport, serving the city of Flin Flon, and Winnipeg as well.
