Brochet can be found within Northern Manitoba, along with other unincorporated communities, First Nations, and Aboriginal communities such as Barren Lands First Nation, Northlands First Nation, Sayisi Dene, Split Lake Cree, Fox Lake, Shamattawa, and Mathias Colomb. Brochet is situated on the northern shore of Reindeer Lake, near the Saskatchewan border. Within Brochet is a northern store and local businesses including a convenience store and pool hall. Beginning September every year, Brochet and the Barren Land Band host a fishing derby, as well as annual trout derby. The community also features events like winter and summer carnivals that last for five days. Winter activities in Brochet include snowmobile races, snow shoeing, and dog races; while summer activities include canoe races, biking, obstacle races, and boat paddling races.

The museum has hands-on safety activities, as well as some seasonal displays, in addition to movies that tackle topics about electricity and electrical safety. One of the museum’s permanent residents is a turbine runner. Winnipeg Railway Museum, another attraction, can be found by tracks 1 and 2 in Winnipeg’s Via Rail which operated Union Station within Manitoba. The museum is a non-profit organisation operated by volunteers that come from the Midwestern Rail Association. It preserves and promotes railway heritage within the regions of Lakehead and the Rockies, Saint Paul, Minnesota, Hudson Bay, and the places in between. The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre, established in 1971, was formerly referred to as the Morden and District Museum. It is home to the largest collection of marine reptile fossils in all of Canada. The museum has been given the status of a ‘Manitoba Star Attraction’ setting the museum as one of the must-see attractions within the province, for families, children, and paleo-enthusiasts, among others.
 
Brochet has no road service available all year-round. The community has a winter road that can be used during the winter season (January to March). The area is only accessible by plane during the summer season.
