Found one nautical mile (1.9 kilometres or 1.2 miles) to the west of Kasabonika First Nation, Kasabonika Airport serves with a gravel-surfaced runway that spans 1,100 metres or 3,520 feet. The airport is located between 53.524722 latitude and -88.643056 longitude, and currently does not operate flights going in and out of the town. This public airport is operated by the Government of Ontario, and resides at an elevation of 205 metres or 672 feet above mean sea level.
 
What to see & do
Kasabonika First Nation as a small community within Ontario, Canada, north of Sioux Lookout, offers a handful of destinations and spots for its visitors. Tourists visiting the community will find that the Kasabonika culture is a fusion of modern day festivities and traditional ceremonies and rituals. Watch or even participate with the locals doing some beadwork, or enjoying recreational activities such as hockey, skating, bingo, and dances. Events and gatherings are held at the Kasabonika Community Centre. Dining and accommodations are offered in the Kasabonika Hotel.
 
After exploring Kasabonika, travellers can then head to nearby Sioux Lookout for more destinations, including Ojibway Provincial Park, Pelican Lake, Minnitaki Lake, and Abram Lake, along with Sioux Mountain, and Cedar Bay Recreational Facilities. Ojibway Provincial Park located to the southwest of Sioux Lookout offers a place for swimming, muskellunge fishing, as well as a sandy beach by the Little Vermillion Lake. Also within the park are trails and pine forests by the lake’s shore. Another sight to be seen within the area is the Minnitaki Lake, located near Sioux Lookout. It is a sizable lake that features islands within the Kenora District. Its maximum length is around 38 kilometres or 24 miles with a maximum width of around 15 kilometres or 9.3 miles.
 
How to get around
Transportation within Kasabonika is operated by the Ministry of Transportation, as well as float plane docking facilities in the area. By road, Kasabonika can be accessed via a network of winter roads during the winter season. Within Sioux Lookout, getting around can be done via the Sioux Lookout railway station, and Ontario Highway 72, with the option of flying to other destinations via the Sioux Lookout Airport. Sioux Lookout railway station, can be found within the town of Sioux Lookout, and is on the Canadian National Railway transcontinental main line, as well as being used by Via Rail to serve transcontinental Canadian trains. Ontario Highway 72, or King’s Highway 72 and commonly Highway 72, is a highway within Ontario that connects Dinorwic Highway 17 with Sioux Lookout towards the north. The major towns and communities in Northern Ontario also provide car rental services.
