Cheap Flights to Tununak Airport

The Tununak Airport is a state-owned civilian airport located some two kilometres southwest of the central business district of Tununak, a town in the Bethel Census Area of Alaska. It is registered as a general aviation facility by the country's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems in 2009-2013, and has since recorded a steady enplanement rate of 1,800-2,000 each year. The airport has a single gravel runway measuring 1,778 feet, and is assigned the TNK code by the IATA and the 4KA code by the FAA. Currently, the airport's runway is poorly maintained, although the facility is still being used by two airlines, Ravn Alaska and Yute Air Alaska. This is due to the fact that flying is almost the same as riding a train in Europe or a cab in New York – a necessity.

 

From the airport, travellers may fly to Newtok; while from Nightmute and Toksook Bay, travellers may arrive to the airport. All flights are scheduled by nature, although almost all these flights are seasonal and are set when the weather in Alaska allows people to fly.

Tununak is one of the 18 census-designated places in Bethel Census Area, and is one of the smallest communes sitting in the southwestern coast of the state.
