Discover Tallinn
The biggest and busiest airport in Estonia is without a doubt the Tallinn Airport (TLL), sometimes referred to as the Lennart Mer International Airport. This facility services the nation’s gorgeous capital city of Tallinn and the city’s surrounding areas. This airport is the functioning hub for the flag-carrying airline Nordica, and is an important base of operations for AirBaltic and LOT. Established as a mere airfield in 1929, this facility now sees over two million tourists each year, and that number is consistently growing.
You will find that Tallinn is more than capable of handling your transiting needs; there are standard features like cash machines and foreign exchange services, as well as a well-stocked business lounge. You can stay in contact with friends and family with the free WiFi, or the internet kiosks situated throughout the airport. If you are feeling peckish before, or after, you fly there are bars, restaurants, and cafes serving a variety of cuisines. For die-hard shopaholics, there is a dedicated duty-free area, a number of gift shops, and several travel accessory outlets. Lastly, there is a comprehensive information desk in the Departures area of the airport for any questions you may have about the city.
You can explore the streets of Tallinn by flying from Australia with Air Baltic, Finnair, Singapore Airlines, LOT, Cathay Pacific, SAS, Emirates, KLM and Qantas.
Travel Information
· Book a car with Skyscanner's search tool, and organise your transport ahead of your arrival, which can help save you quite a bit of money. Otherwise, you can reserve and pay for a car hire at the rental agencies at the airport itself. Once you have your vehicle, to get into town, you need to drive southeast on Route 2, and you will be directed right into the city. The distance is only 4km, so the drive shouldn’t take you longer than 15 minutes.
· Buses and shuttles leave from this airport, and vary in price. The public routes only cost a cheap and cheerful 1.60EUR ($2.30) for a ticket. Private shuttles on the other hand can cost around 20EUR ($28), but make up for the increase by being able to take up to seven passengers at a time. Try booking an airport transfer through our website to find the most competitive prices for transport if you aren’t keen on either option.
· Taxis are reasonable, as long as you hop in an officially designated city taxi. Expect a fare of about 5-10EUR ($7-14) depending on the traffic.
