Discover Nogliki

Nogliki Aiport is an airport serving the urban locality of Nogliki in Russia. It was formerly merely a rough airstrip, but thanks to a multi-million dollar investment from the oil industry, Nogliki Airport now boasts of a new 1,750-metre paved runway and a terminal building. The airport is only a few kilometres southeast of the centre of the city. The airport operates limited scheduled service and chartered flights.

Nogliki is the administrative centre of the Nogliksky District of Sakhalin Oblast. It is situated near the eastern coast of the Sakhalin Island, approximately 600 kilometres of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. What to see & do

Sakhalin Historical & Ethnographic Museum - The museum is housed in a wooden building. It displays approximately 3,000 items, including traditional tools. The museum also doubles as a cultural centre for the Nivkh tribe, hence, it is not unusual to find Nivkhs there studying their own history and culture.

Shopping - For fresh produce, go to the central market on Shkolny Lane, near the local school. There are many shops lined up at the central part of Sovetskaya Street. Groceries and hardware stores make up most of the stores, but there are other items for sale too.

Moneron Island - Moneron Island is a small uninhabited island southwest of Kholmsk and Russia's first marine park. It is popular amongst snorkellers and divers, thanks to the abundance of marine life in the surrounding waters. A dive shop in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk can help visitors with the arrangements, including the equipment and charter boat. Make sure that the border guard approves of the dive sites, as there are certain restrictions due to politics, primarily due to the close proximity to Japan. Moneron Island is also popular for birdwatchers as it is a haven for seabirds, with numerous bird colonies present.

Sakhalin Regional Museum - The Sakhalin Regional Museum is located in a former Japanese building dating back to 1937. It features exhibitions focusing on the natural and climatic features of Sakhalin Island, as well as its history.
