The Lisbon Airport (LIS), also known as the Portela Airport, or the Humberto Delgado Airport, is the primary aviation facility for the capital of Portugal, and a large European transit hub. This airport has really good amenities across the board, with unlimited free WiFi, ATMs, currency exchange services, pharmacies, information desks, as well as lots of eateries to choose from and plenty of shopping outlets.

The airport is really close to the centre of town, situated only 6km away, and you can reach central Lisbon via the metro, buses, shuttles and taxis. The latter option is the most expensive, but still very reasonable, with a typical fare being around 10-15EUR ($15-22).

Things to do in Lisbon

Best time to visit Lisbon

·         Autumn (September-October) and spring (March-May) are the most pleasant months to tour Lisbon city. The days are usually in the 17-22°C range, and the prices are much lower than in summer.

·         Winters are pretty cold, but this is the best time to visit for anyone travelling on a samll budget.

·         Summers are hot, but beautiful, with daily highs of 27-30°C. Expect the city to be full of life, but fairly crowded.

Arriving in Lisbon

·         You won’t find direct flights from Australia to Lisbon, but there are plenty of connecting ones, usually through Guangzhou (CAN), Dubai (DXB) and Frankfurt (FRA).
