Tsushima Airport is known airport that is located 10 km northeast Tsushima, which is a city in the Nagasaki Prefecture of Japan.

Tsushima is a city located in the Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. The city is the only city of Tsushima Subprefecture and it encompasses all of Tsushima Island Archipelago. The archipelago lies in the Tsushima Strait north of Nagasaki on the western side of Kyushu, which is the southernmost mainland island of Japan.

It is recorded that the city has an estimated population of 39,983 and a population density of 56.42 persons per km², as recorded in 2005. The city's total area is 708.61 km², which makes up 17.3% of the area of Nagasaki Prefecture.

Travellers flock to Tsushima Island for its wildlife. Tsushima is popular to South Koreans and offers adventure packages catering primarily to them. These are generally guided adventure tours consisting of hiking and fishing. These vacation packages are generally booked through South Korean tour agencies. Unfortunately top English speakers, local English speakers are extremely rare in Tsushima, but some hotels do offer a telephone English translating service.

What to see & do

Watatsumi Shrine - This shrine can be found at the Toyotamamachi Nii, where Shinto shrines can be found. Apart from the Watatsumi Shrine, there are other places of worship that can be found here that are equally as interesting and are dedicated to the sea god Watatsumi. Some examples include the Ōwatatsumi jinja or Daikai jinja in Sumiyoshi-ku.

Banshoin - Found in Nishizato Izuharamachi, this Buddhist temple was built in 1615 by the Soh family, which were the rulers of Tsushima Island during the Edo Period. This is also the location of one of the three largest graveyards in Japan.

Eboshi-dake Observatory - Located in Niit Toyotamamachi, this observatory is a great place that is located in the sea. The island itself is a beautiful landscape that travellers will appreciate.

How to get around within Tsushima

For transportation, Tsushima has two sea ports which are namely Izuhara and Hitakatsu. There are ferries that cross to the port of Hakata on Kyūshū a few times per day. There are also ferries also travel a few times a week to Busan in South Korea.
