The public-use airport that serves Spring Point in the Bahamas is Spring Point Airport. Residing at an elevation of 11 feet or three metres above mean sea level, the airport operates with an asphalt-surfaced runway designated 5,000 feet x 151 feet or 1,524 metres x 46 metres. Spring Point is a city on Acklins Island in the Bahamas.

What to see & do

The island and district of Acklins in the Bahamas belongs to the group of islands arranged along a large, shallow lagoon, the Bight of Acklins. Even with a little number of historical sites, the attractions in Acklins are all worth visiting. These include many Lucayan Indian sites, with one of the largest Lucayan Indian settlements in the country located along Pompey Bay Beach, south of Spring Point. In Samana Cay, northeast of Spring Point in Acklins, there are ten ancient Lucayan sites that were unearthed by National Geographic Society archaeologists. Also northeast of Spring Point is Plana Cays, which is a protected reserve for endangered great iguanas and the very rare estimated hutias, the only native mammals of the Bahamas. At the southernmost part of Acklins Island is Castle Island Lighthouse.

How to get around within the Bahamas

Options for getting around the Bahamas include going by air, bus, taxi, and boat or yacht. When going by air, travelling between the islands of the Bahamas can be done with flights provided by Sky Bahamas, Western Air, Flamingo Air, Lee Air, Southern Air, and Pineapple Air. Going by bus, most of Nassau or New Providence is served by jitneys, referring to a system of buses that travel throughout the respective areas. Within the other islands of the Bahamas on the other hand, with the exception of Grand Bahama, can be extremely limited. Travelling around the country by taxi is also an option although the ride can be expensive. These taxis can get its passengers from point A to point B, but expect a higher fare, that cannot be negotiated with. The mail boats are cheap, but not the most comfortable and certainly not the fastest. The mail boats serve most, if not all, of the populated islands of the Bahamas. Yacht charter on the other hand is also an option, albeit can be a tad bit expensive for regular travellers.
