Joint Base Andrews is a military facility of the United States located in Camp Springs, Prince George's County, Maryland. The facility was the result of the merging of Andrews Air Force Base and Naval Air Facility Washington in 2009. It is under the jurisdiction of United States Air Force 11th Wing, Air Force District of Washington (AFDW).

The base is named after the former Commanding General of United States Forces in the European Theater of Operations during World War II and one of the founders of the United States Army Air Forces (later the United States Air Force), Lieutenant General Frank MaxwelL Andrews (1884–1943). It has two runways: the eastern runway is 11,700 ft (3,600 m) in length, while the western runway is 11,300 ft (3,400 m) in length. There was a minor third runway between the two, but is now closed.

Camp Springs in Maryland is an unincorporated area and census-designated place in Prince George's County that includes the unincorporated area of Andrews Manor.

What to see & do

Joint Base Andrews is a closed installation and not just anyone can waltz inside. The Visitor Control Center monitors visitors by "by identity proofing, vetting to determine the level of character and conduct determined necessary for the basis of access control decisions for individuals requesting and/or requiring access to installations, and issuance of access credentials." The Visitors Center assists with several military/civilian needs, including short-term guest access, DBIDS or long-term access, vehicle decals, access to protection level areas, and others.

JBA offers a Transition Assistance Program for separating service members during the time period of their transition into civilian life. How to get around within Joint Base Andrews

There used to be a base shuttle service in JBA, but it was discontinued due to the lack of ridership in August 2006. In lieu of this service, there is a new Share-A-Ride free service provided by the Andrews commuters. This allows pedestrians to travel from pickup points labelled with a brown and white Share-A-Ride sign to another. The designated pick-up points are Arnold Ave and Menoher Drive (passenger terminal), Brookley Avenue, Arnold Avenue and D Street, West Perimeter Road and Yuma Drive, Menoher Drive and Tuskeegee Drive, and West Perimeter Road and Spruce Drive. The base also has a taxi and limo service. All drivers entering JBA are subject to search on a random basis.
