Corfu Airport

Corfu International Airport (CFU)

The Corfu International Airport (CFU), also known as the Ioannis Kapodistrias Airport is the key aviation facility serving the Greek island of Corfu in the Ionian archipelago of this nation. Established in 1937, this airport is the main way to get in and out of this island, and connects Corfu to the mainland. This hub is one of the busiest in the nation, and sees millions of people pass through its gates each year as they seek sun, sea and sand on this lovely isle.

You’ll find the airport is pretty compact, with enough amenities to cover all your necessities, but not any fancy extras. You will have access to ATMs, and a currency exchange service if you have need of them. The airport also provides passengers with free WiFi access, which is handy if you need to contact your family, friends, or even make last minute accommodation or transport arrangements.

There is an information desk, a duty-free shop, and a first aid centre, you can utilise. There are some travel agencies within the terminal buildings of Corfu’s airport, which can help you plan trips and excursions while you’re staying on the island. And if you’re hungry, there is a café with a bar that can quench your thirst or sate your hunger if you are in need of something to tide you over until you get into town.

Generally you’ll find that airlines like Qatar Airways, Olympic Air, Singapore Airlines, EgyptAir, Qantas, Aegean Airlines, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, British Airways, and Qantas will run routes to Corfu.

Travel Information

·         There are car hire companies within the airport, with well-known brands operating out of here. However, as this is a small island, it is advisable to book a car in advance to ensure you secure a vehicle for your stay. The airport is only 3km from Corfu Town, and it should only take you 10 minutes to get to town. Simply take the Lochagou Spiridonos Vlaikou, to the Rizospaston Voulefton Ioniou Voulis. Then take the Vrella Armeni to Leof. Dimokratias and continue on until you reach the centre.

·         There is a bus route that runs between the airport and Corfu town, and a one-way fare is less than 2EUR ($3). Though this bus only serves the airport every hour, so you could be in for a wait. Booking an airport transfer is a nice option if you are travelling with family and would like to be taken door-to-door.

·         There are taxi cabs that serve this airport, and they should cost only 15-20EUR ($21-28) for the journey, though you should confirm a price before hopping in the car.
