A designated place within northeastern Manitoba, Canada is Red Sucker Lake. The community can be found adjacent to the Red Sucker Lake 1976 Indian Reserve, which is part of the Red Sucker Lake First Nation, along with other seven reserves such as Red Sucker Lake Reserve 1976 A to D, F, G, and H. As a small community, it is located around 532 kilometres, or 331 miles southeast of Thompson and is home to around 23 residents in all of its seven total private residences. Due to the community’s limited area, there is not much to see or do within Red Sucker Lake. The whole of Manitoba on the other hand, however, has plenty of attractions to offer with the Assiniboine Park Zoo, FortWhyte Alive, Lower Fort Garry, Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, Manitoba Legislative Building, Manitoba Museum, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Mennonite Heritage, and the Forks, among others. Manitoba Museum was established in 1965 and is currently the largest museum within Winnipeg. Formerly the Manitoba Museum of Man and Culture, the museum is the first Canadian museum to successfully recreate marine life 450 million years ago. It offers visitors virtual underwater observatory shows that exhibit how the Hudson’s Bay region was during the Ordovician period. Other collections include interpretative galleries of Earth History, Boreal Forest, Nonsuch, Grasslands, and Urban, to name a few. Another destination to be found within Manitoba is the Assiniboine Park Zoo, which was established in 1904. Accredited by the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Assiniboine Park Zoo is home to exhibits like the Journey to Churchill, Toucan Ridge, and Australian Walkabout, in addition to many. Also held within the zoo are events such as Boo at the Zoo, Lights of the Wild, along with summer day camps, and guided tours for schools and groups.

 

How to get around within Red Sucker Lake

There is not much information on Red Sucker Lake and its surrounding areas. Being located within Manitoba, most of the province can be explored by train, bus, and car. Travelling by rail can be done through VIA Rail which runs an intra-provincial service that goes from Winnipeg Union Station to Churchill, with around three trains in a week. A branch line starting from The Pas, goes on towards Pukatawagan in the northwest; the branch line has bi-weekly services. Most of Manitoba, especially towards the south, is served by Greyhound buses. Other than buses and trains, the province can also be explored by car. Travelling by car can be considered as the most efficient of all the transportation options within the province since just like most of Canada’s provinces.
