Things to do in Goa

Kick off your tour of this lovely state by visiting Old Goa, the former capital of the Portuguese colonists, this town is replete with beautiful buildings, many of which have been turned into archaeological museums. In particular you must visit the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, which was built in the 1500s. After Old Goa, you must make time for Panjim, the state’s current capital, that is filled with remnants of Portuguese rule, such as old villas, town squares, fountains, and of course, churches. Named a UNESCO World Heritage site in the 1980s, exploring this city will give you a chance to investigate the past of this state, whilst coming in direct contact with contemporary Goans, and their way of life.

Once you’ve enjoyed the cultural attractions, you must make for the coast. Goa is famed in India, and across the world for its beautiful beaches and laid-back coastal vibe. You can find hippie haven stretches, like Arambol, find seclusion on Patnem, or partake in a little jet skiing in Baga. For the famous markets of Goa, you must go to Anjuna, where you can browse through over 500 stalls, and bargain ‘til your face is blue for a great deal on handicrafts and fabrics.
