Asosa Airport is a public airport that serves the town of Asosa, the capital of western Benishangul-Gumuz Region in Ethiopia. It is located 5.5km (3.4mi) southeast of Asosa. Operated by Ethiopian Airports Enterprise, it is among the 17 main airports in the country. The airport lies at an elevation of 1,561 metres (5,121 feet) above mean sea level and has one paved runway designated 11/29, with an asphalt surface measuring 1,950 metres by 46 metres (6,398 feet by 151 feet). Ethiopian Airlines is the sole carrier that serves Asosa Airport. It offers regularly scheduled domestic flights to Addis Ababa. Its IATA code is ASO, and its ICAO code is HASO.

Asosa, also transliterated as Assosa, is a town in western Ethiopia. It is the capital of the Benishangul-Gumuz Region (or kilil). It is located in the Asosa Zone, one of the three zones in the region, bordered on the south by the Mao-Komo special woreda, on the west by Sudan, and on the northeast by the Kamashi. It has a latitude and longitude of 10°04′N 34°31′E, with an elevation of 1570 metres. According to the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Asosa has an estimated total population of 20,226, making it the largest settlement in Asosa woreda.

Interestingly, the town is populated by various ethnic groups – the Oromo, the Amhara, the Berta, and the Tigray, among others.
