Asosa Airport is a public airport that serves the town of Asosa, the capital of western Benishangul-Gumuz Region in Ethiopia. It is located 5.5km (3.4mi) southeast of Asosa. The airport lies at an elevation of 1,561 metres (5,121 feet) above mean sea level and has one paved runway designated 11/29, with an asphalt surface measuring 1,950 metres by 46 metres (6,398 feet by 151 feet). Asosa, also transliterated as Assosa, is a town in western Ethiopia. It is the capital of the Benishangul-Gumuz Region (or kilil). It is located in the Asosa Zone, one of the three zones in the region, bordered on the south by the Mao-Komo special woreda, on the west by Sudan, and on the northeast by the Kamashi. It has a latitude and longitude of 10°04′N 34°31′E, with an elevation of 1570 metres. According to the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Asosa has an estimated total population of 20,226, making it the largest settlement in Asosa woreda.
