What a Gem!

WOW, “Perfect Location”! This hotel is right in the heart of the Old Quarter, just 150 meters from an alley packed with over 15 restaurants and discotheques—close enough for easy access but far enough to enjoy a peaceful stay. It’s also just a 7-minute walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area.
Breakfast offers a great selection of items, and my favorite was the Eggs Benedict—absolutely delicious!
I had initially booked tours through Viator and Klook, but the hotel staff not only matched but exceeded those offers. They arranged an incredible four-day trekking tour in Sa Pa, which included:
• 2 nights in Sa Pa town
• 1 night in Ta Van, an ethnic village
• 2 nights in Bao Ho, another ethnic village, in a homestay experience
Highly recommend this place—ENJOY!

Avoid this hotel at any cost

We stayed at Amber Hotel Hanoi for 3 nights and unfortunately, it was a highly disappointing experience. I booked two double bedrooms through Booking.com, primarily based on its great reviews and convenient location. However, upon arrival, I was shocked to find they had given me a family room instead of the rooms I had reserved. They claimed it was an upgrade, but the family room was cramped, with just enough space for two people. It was impossible to move around, and the room was extremely outdated.
The condition of the room was appalling — the sheets were stained and had hair on them, the pillowcases were torn, and the room had a persistent bad smell. The bath towels were dirty and also smelled. Everything in the room felt sticky, there was a mould on the walls, and to top it off, the power went out for the entire night, which made the situation even worse.
When I raised my concerns, the manager, Dinh, suggested that they could move me to another hotel next door, which I declined. She then told me that if I canceled my booking through Booking.com, I would receive some sort of refund, which seemed suspicious.
I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel. It was more like a rat hole, and there seems to be some sort of scam going on with cancellations that prevent me from leaving a review on Booking.com. Save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else!

Functional for a few nights

The hotel is located in the heart of the old quarter, but the night is quiet! We tried two types of rooms... the one on the ground floor tiny and not very functional, the one on the top floor more spacious and better. In both cases, however, the cleanliness left much to be desired. Good breakfast and Staff cmq always available! For a few nights you can go.

Yet another fraudulent hotel wanting cash and making you cancel your third party booking!! AVOID

Total nightmare as always with staying in Hanoi it seems. Want to check in after 3pm even with a confirmed booking through a trustworthy third party? Forget it, you’ll be shoved to the back of the queue behind ‘walk-ins’ who pay first, they just want your money as always. We were moved to another hotel when arriving at 7pm after our bus was over 2 hours late, also common in Vietnam, so had to cancel the booking ourselves (sketchy due to refunding issues with Booking.com). Then was rudely shoved along the street to our next hotel to be forced to pay cash otherwise we didn’t have a room for the night! Obviously the staff didn’t want to pay Booking.com’s commission and they make up a rubbish story like the ‘a/c is broken’. This has happened to us on several occasions and if they really want westerners to use their awful hotels they should stop doing this as it’s going to annoy a lot of people!

It stinks !!

Don't book here. Staff is pushy and tries to mislead you. There was another couple in the hotel who asked behind another room because there was an odor. We just arrived and we were told we had a choice between 2 rooms, regular and deluxe. We took the regular room and said the other couple could take the deluxe room. But suddenly the deluxe room was no longer available.... Finally we arrived in our regular room. Wasn't clean at all, smelled like sewage....
