York Landing Airport is an airport situated adjacent to York Landing, Manitoba, Canada. The public-use airport is operated by the Government of Manitoba. It resides at an elevation of 624 feet (189 metres) above mean sea level and has one runway designated 10/28, with crushed rock surface and a length of 3,397 feet (1,035 metres).
 
York Landing, or York Factory First Nation, is a small community situated on the eastern bank of the Nelson River, lying somewhat halfway between Lake Winnipeg and Hudson Bay. The registered population is at 1,239 as of August 2013. The community is governed by a Chief and four councillors. York Landing is a member of the Keewatin Tribal Council, the tribal council representing 10 other First Nation band governments in Manitoba. The head offices are in Thompson, the Hub of the North and the regional trade and service centre of north Manitoba, from which York Landing is 116 kilometres away.
 
What to see & do
Thompson Zoo - Established in 1978 with only a few animals, the small Tui Zoo now has over 100 resident animals and birds. It is operated by the non-profit organisation Thompson Zoological Society, and is the only Wildlife Rehab Centre in northern Manitoba.
 
Mystery Mountain Winter Park - The Mystery Mountain Winter Park features 18 downhill runs, five lifts, and over 10 kilometres of groomed cross country ski trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Rentals are available, and there are qualified instructors for hire on site to teach even beginners.
 
Pisew Falls Provincial Heritage Park - Pisew Falls is located south of Thompson. It is the second largest falls in Manitoba. There is a viewing platform and a suspension bridge at the lower falls for different vantage points. From the bridge, there is a seven-mile hike that will take you to the highest waterfalls in the province, Kwasitchewan Falls.
 
Spirit Way - Spirit Way is a renowned pathway and biking route that includes 16 points of interest, wolf statues, and the largest lighted mural of a Robert Bateman painting in the world.
 
Thompson Golf Club - The golf club in Thompson features a nine-hole golf course roughly three kilometres north of the city. The greens are known to be among the best in Manitoba, and the clubhouse provides a wonderfully calm and informal ambiance.
 
Thompson Public Library - The Thompson Public Library provides access to informational, educational, cultural, and recreational library materials and services to the public regardless of age, gender, ethnic background, educational level, or economic status. It aims to serve as a learning centre for the community.
